Downloading CA's numbers, cant seperate the number from the date.

How could you not understand what I said? All you do is count the number of characters you want and dont want.

save file (notepad) MegaMillions.txt

Open Excel

(In Excel)

File -- Open (select Text Files )

Double-click MegaMillions

Text Import Wizard (Step 1 of 3) -- check Delimited -- Next

Text Import Wizard (Step 2 of 3) -- check Space -- Next

Text Import Wizard (Step 3 of 3) -- Column data format (General) -- Finish

(then manually fix the column headers autofit the column widths)

(then save your new file as an excel spreadsheet

It was the Megamillions. I went to the Past winning numbers link and downloded the file.

It came to me like this;

You load the txt file by clicking Load List and then you open the txt file with notepad and count all the stuff in front of what you actually want including spaces dashes numbers letters everything and place that in the first textbox. Second you count how long the stuff you want is and put that in the second textbox and click the button.

WOW! I'm in some deep stuff here.

Not knowing quite what I was doing, I pasted your link and it downloded something with (I think) instructions to put the What I downloaded into the left column, and what I wanted into the right column.

Did I get that right?

I down loaded CA's Past winning numbers for one of the Ball drawings.

It came in a large file with the Drawing number, date then the two digit numbers and the Ball.

When I tried to put that into Excel it all went into one cell.

If I tried to delete any part of any line, the whole line was deleted.

How do you folks get the past winning numbers into Excel
