The part of the advice that I gathered humor from was Dont tell another person .....Um werent they telling you when they spoke of it? For some reason that was just funny....

This was no scam my friends. The scratch off was the 500 million dollar payout ticket. I'll never forget it. The winning number was the #27 and had 1mill written underneath it. Guy's I felt like I was in a dream.

Normally the way those scams work is not the way this story went.

The scams normally involve someone who is supposedly in the country illegally and can't redeem the ticket because they're illegal. They offer to split the jackpot with the American who redeems it for them. But, the catch is that they and you have to share the taxes paid on the prize. They have their $3,000 for the taxes, and you have to get yours from the bank. So you withdraw the money and they combine it with theirs ... and... [ More ]

Who is going to hand a million dollar winner to a perfect stranger to verify?

xandercage, I think your honesty just might have saved you tons of grief.

The whole thing may have been legit, but it sure sounds like a set up for some kind of gypsy switch .

One of the m.o.'s on this is that the winners claim to be here illegally and are afraid to cash the ticket, so they offer a reward , but the mark has to put up some hefty front moneu first. They take the fron... [ More ]

Xandercage did right to give his advice and send the couple on their way. I've read about scams (peigons) that use this scenario to scam greedy people out of their money, an old couple walks up to a stranger and stupidly ask for his advice to cash a lottery ticket worth millions. If the stranger is greedy and want to share the couple's good fortune then he can become a victim of their scam.

Kinda makes you wonder how they got to be an older couple by being stupid enough to allow a complete stranger to hold a million dollar winning lottery ticket in his own hands.
