I'm happy anytime I win anything. If I miss the big one I figure it just wasn't meant to be.

The close calls that bother me are when I constantly on a daily basis miss the pick 3 or 4 by one digit.

Did I mention Constantly?

I hope I didn't jinx myself now.

At work we had a game where everybody picked 10 numbers, and everybody would throw in money.

When the drawing would come up, you if the numbers came up you would scratch off your number.

Whoever got all 10 numbers scratched off would get the money.

Well I did win $600 on that deal. But I compared my 10 numbers against 10 of somebody elses numbers we had 9 of 10 numbers matched between our numbers.

Now what are the odds of that????

Here is my close call.

Yesterday I had a close call.

I had the day before I matched 2 on Fantasy five.

My free ticket is a Quick pick. I played that first in case

the quick pick was the same as the numbers I was going

to play. (What are the odds of that?)

The numbers were what I was going to play except that the 5

(I was going to play 3) and the 23 (I was going to play 22).

In today's drawing the numbers are 03- 08- 23- 36- 37

yes, i agree.

i don't mind an extra 20k....i've had that missed jackpot as stated above, but have hit a lot of 3 of 5 and missed a few 4 of 5 because of my wheeling. the numbers were there in my workout, just didn't wheel them right.

so, we'll keep them coming....

True-True. But in the instance I gave before I had all 6 of the numbers but I did not go purchase them. I had 20 combinations and I didn't go purchase them like my first mind told me to. Which in turn means I jacked myself out of half of a jackpot by not going to the store during my lunch break.

What you say about the cash 5 is very true. The odds are very low and the payout is great even with 2/5.

For several weeks now, I've come close to winning on Daily Derby Lotto Game-CA Lottery but due to my budget, I only play it Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday because it costs $2.00 per play and if I play it all week, it would cut into my other lotto games. Close calls are aggravating to the point of being nerve wracking. The number that didn't hit is worth its weight in gold, times millions , literally.

For the most part, the lower prizes are insults. The best deal is the $1,000,000 for PB for 5 + 0, if you played the mulitplier. $250,000 for 5 + 0 on MM isn't so hot, .0208% of the starting jackpot of $12,000,000 and never progresses.

As for Pick 6, here's an example from Illinois:

My close call came quite a few years ago when I used to work 3:00p.m to 11:30p.m. It was a Saturday evening and the TX Lotto jackpot was about $50 million. I had some numbers I wanted to play and forgot to get them before I went to work. When my lunch break rolled around I started to go purchase them but changed my mind. Congrats! Maybe you are getting closer to actually hitting it.

Doesn't work that way. These numbers just pop up when you win. Usually luck turns bad after a win. And sometimes luck looks bad before the win.

Wednesday I had a bunch of ticket in various games and only won $1 in Badger 5.

My luck in Illinois has been bad lately, maybe it's a good sign.... :-)

I will always take the cash option.

$829 you will have to go to the lottery office, right?

valid points to both sides, sometimes it's bad to miss by one digit and others winning 2nd or 3rd tier is good!

the maddest i've ever been was when i had the Cash 5 numbers on paper and didn't play them because there were two consecutive orders and the chances of that happening...that night it did and i lost about $25,000.

the numbers were: 12-13-14-24-25

oh well, as long as one keeps it fun and within budget, keep seeking the win.

twice this year i missed the fantasy 5 by one number, and on one of the occassions i was the one who picked the numbers, missing out on a hundred grand plus, i dont care for the $120, i was more disappointed... i want the big prize, thats what we play for right

The payout was $829.00. Sad, I know... But it is $829 I did not have before.

The jackpot prize I missed was 1.2 million. The game had just been hit the week before.

I would have taken annuity with such a small jackpot, otherwise I will always take the lump sum.

I hope to find it is a decision I will have to make at some point in my lifetime.

I got 5 out of 6 on a local game Wednesday. Closest I have ever gotten to being a millionaire. I used a computer pick.

Not sure how I feel about the big miss. Right now, I am just glad to have some extra money coming in.

It's less painfull if the off number is early in the list.

My win ticket was ON PB 9/23/06

05 13 21 26 50 PB 20

The Real numbers wereally =05 doesn't match.

Oh I got another one.... 13 And another one 21. Then your brain says that you matched enough...

Then suddenly you're find another 50, oh $100....

Then you keep on matching 3 +1 before you figure out that you matched 4 and 1... Is it real?

As others here have said, don't feel all alone. Way back when I missed $43,000,000 in the Cal. lottery (6/49 then) by one, and $119 million in PB by two.

3 close calls on Wis badger 5 this year. 3 4 out of 5's (1:167,000 odds for winner) Biggest one I missed $150K and got $50...

What was unusual that it is the easiest game to win on, with the best odds, and it was just about the only game that I didn't get 1 short until this year.

MarkP - sounds like your time is coming soon. It's playing with you, but I'm sure when you catch it, it will all be worth it!!

As for me, the most I have ever, ever won is $165. AND it was my very first time ever playing a lottery of any kind *cough, 20 years ago, cough*. I truly felt that it was telling me to keep playing, that eventually I would win the big one. There all all kinds of close calls. As I was chatting very often all week at the local grocery store and bought some Megabucks from her. Well, that week she sold a $2.5 mill ticket to somebody else. I never let her forget that one. (in a friendly way)

It worked out OK though. I happened to walk in the store and they were giving out the big check. I sincerely congratulated the guy and shook his hand. A week or 2 later I got 5 out of 6 in Illinois lotto for $1,590 (instead of 5.5 Mil).....

I know the feeling. Once I got 5of6 in the local Ohio Super Lotto for $1500 but was 1 numbers from getting 6of6 for a $25M jackpot. While everyone was happy I came so close and felt it wouldn't be long before I matched all the numbers, I felt I had gotten as close as I would ever get and would probably never get that close again. So far I was right, with its replacement Classic Lotto I'm lucky to match 3of6 and the best I've done in MegaMillions is a 3+1.

When you get close like when I made $10K on powerball instead of $100,000,000 are you happy for you got, or dissapointed for what you didn't get.
