There's no reason anyone should blame (bad) luck when they lose. Losing is the most likely outcome, so it should be the expected outcome. OTOH, if you do win, it's luck whether you give it credit or not.

I suppose anyone who wins a lottery jackpot is lucky (as most folks use the word) regardless of how they came up with the numbers but since I don't blame luck for all the times I've lost I wouldn't attribute a win to it either.

Playing the predictions I post is purely for self interests, I would hate to post a winning prediction and not get a share of the winnings. If I posted hundreds of them daily I probably wouldn't play them all.

That is extremely admirable. The only thing I can think of on thois board that would be more admirable is someone hitting a jackpot, being totally honest about where they got the numbers, and whetehr it was a personal method or a QP admitting that luck was still involved at those numbers being drawn for that drawing.

I have written in previous post that I usually give lottery scratch off tickets as additional gift, as greeting card stuffers, to family and friends that attend the Christmas dinner. It is now expected by most of the people who attend. One recent year, I didn't bring tickets because I forgot to get them, and I had to work that day. A niece picked some up, but when I showed up they all wondered where my tickets were.

How right you are RJOh, I am endeavoring to do just that, reduce the amount of numbers so it is affordable to play, and not need to take out a second mortgage on your home just to buy them all!! And an our before play time should be enough; unless you live far from your closest ticket agent.

we have a new years mega draw, where they add a liuttle money they dont payout thru the year. jackpot is like $30M but there is usually a dozen or so winners.

anyhow i bought 5 quick picks for a min entry of $2.40 ea meaning 4 lines. and wrote happy new year X from me,. on the bac.

well i did on 2 of them and gave em to people i liked and wished good luck on winning lotto. no one else came saw me over xmas period so i kept the other 3 for myself.

The only thing wrong with giving lotto tickets and they hit BIG money the giver always want's more then they deserve..They would say I gave you the ticket and feel like I deserve half of the winnings ..So I NEVER give a lotto ticket for a gift and never accept one..To many friends and family break ups because of it..Buy your own tickrt and let them buy thier own or just give them some gambling money and wish them luck....When you gamble gamble by yourself and no splits..It can get ugly..

I'll be giving scratch offs as gifts at work tomorrow, $3 per person. They all know I'm a lotto junkie. I'll probably be the only one giving anything but if someone else does give gifts hopefully they won't think I'm cheap. If they do, oh well.

I won't give MM or LT tickets though. I couldn't handle it if one of them won millions. They need to join the pool for that.

I have given tickets as a gift. But I tell them that if they win a big prize to give me 1% back.

So If they win 100 Million, I get 1 million and could live well on that.

1% would hardly be a dent in a big prize.

I also tell the people that sell me tickets that I would give 1% as a tip, and I have.

If I bought someone a lottery ticket and they win a million dollars I would not be mad because it would have to be someone who is very close to me in the first place and we would have to have an agreement as to how much I will get if they win, other than that I wouldn't even buy a lottery ticket for someone as a gift.

I give lottery tickets as a gift all the time and hope they win. They make great stocking stuffers for the people who love the lottery, especially scratchers.

However some people think it steals their luck even if they bring scratch offs back from the store for someone else. (I know someone like that) They will mow you down going back to the counter so that you won't get the next set of scratchers coming off.

I routinely buy Raffle Tickets for close family members. Nothing would make me happier than seeing them win. I wouldn't expect a kickback or be mad if I didn't get one either but I know that every one of them would insist on splitting with me. They also buy tickets for me and that's what I would do without thinking about it if I won also. I don't understand how anybody could regret making a family member rich.

I would only give a sctratch off after I sctatched it first and only if there was 2 out of 3 prizes showing, which were a hundred thousand or more, needing only one more for a winner. Then I can show them how close they were to all that money. I've often given lottery tickets - usually scratch-offs. To best friends and family only. Mostly family. No big winners so far.

I give with the idea that if the top prize was a million dollars and they win, then I'd be happy. No strings attached. No kickbacks required. It costs a buck. All I lost was a buck, whether they win or not. I feel they are worth the dollar I spent on them.

The world must be full of stupid people including the officials of the various lotteries who have commercials asking that you give lottery tickets as gifts. Only a stupid person would be upset if they won. The maximum scrathoff ticket sold in NY is $30 and most people give $2 or $5 tickets as gifts. The person who got upset because the recipient won $75 bucks was cheap and next time should give a gift that costs more then $2. and has no possibility of increasing in value.

I usually give out scratch-off tickets every year at the family Christmas party to everyone that attends. The Teens are usually the bnig winners. Of course, their parents' have to cash the tickets for them. I don't think anyone has ever expressed feeling upset over not having a winner.

This is true for exchanged gifts, but if people would put a little thought into what the person likes or dislikes it wouldn't happen as much.

I'm not sure why anyone would be sad or depressed if a lottery ticket gift they gave was a winner. Most people give gifts to people they care about, and for me, it would make me very happy to see someone I care about get a financial bump.

If it would really tear you up to see a lottery ticket gift be a winner, then just give it to your spouse as a gift.

yeah i have given lotto tickets as presents. infact i have a comp , on anotheer website im going to give a bunch of quick picks as the prize for xmas.

once you give something away , u give up all claims to it. i know its tempting fate , but then i try tempting fate with giving me a lotto win every week, now it is tempting fate to hand over a winner i bought for someone else.

Im interested in seeing how i react if they ever do win. I hope im big enough to be happy for them. really all

The answers given so far are very disturbing. A gift, by its very nature is an expression of good will and love (not romantic). If you're the type of person that would get upset by that then you shouldn't be giving anybody anything to begin with. That's the type of person who makes sure they're getting a gift before they give one. It's not genuine.

That's the rub with giving scratchers as gifts, if it wins a large amount, it can cause chaos.

If lottery tickets are given as gifts, it's better to play a number game and play two tickets, one for them and one for yourself.

Or go with the dollar scratchers with a $200 or so max prize.

Wow...

Well, I'm not stupid and I have given scratch-off tickets as gifts. Not all of us get green with envy, when we give a ticket to someone and they win a prize. Some of us are actually happy, when the person wins something on their ticket.

Only stupid people would give lottery ticket as gifts.

This girl that I knew gave her friend a $2 scratch. It ended up being a $75 winner. She got mad and depressed because of it.

It's the dumbest present anyone can give.
