I would think it is a little bit time consuming to write these up in two languages for each game, but come on. All they were doing was basically copying and pasting the results from the game pages, formating them for a press release, and then adding the winner locations and quickpick information. The problem was that they didn't just write one press release that covered every game, they wrote a separate press release for each game, and Fantasy 5 runs each day. The solution is clear. They could continue doing it if we would all just speak one language. Clearly, we should all be required to learn, speak and read Spanish.

I really don't understand why it's so important to get the details of the results from each game anyway. We already know that qps tend to win more than personal selections, and that someone in Florida is going to win the games. If the need to know exact details is so you can be sure eveyrthing is fair and legitamate...well you couldn't really prove that before anyway. I live in Jacksonville,FL and we don't have no where near as many jackot winners compared too Miami probably because I live in the Bible Belt so maybe the religious right is somehow causing this too happen unlike Miami which has a very large Santeria population along with Pagan Catholicism. I know that many Miamians pray too Saints for good fortune and a lot of them win that way while others consult Santeria preists and priesteses or do the practice themselves. This is just another bump in the road from the over paid, over-thinkers of the Florida lottery!

Why would they not want to make public, the amount of winners and selling outlets, on their web site? In these daily press releases, the person who won is not given, just where and how much.

This goes along with the lottery not showing live daily game drawings... I know...you can watch the replay on the web site. But who says that those replays are of the actual drawings and aren't controlled in... [ More ]

In Florida most winners are in Miami and in Illinois it's Chicago.

You guys are misinformed. They are still going to post information about game results, they just won't be posting those draw results press releases on their website anymore. You'll still be able to see how many people won each game, but you won't be able to see if they won with QPs and what part of the state. However, the media will still have access to the details from each game, so the local newspapers will still likely post the detailed results. Here's exactly what they mentioned on their sit... I actually think this is a good idea. There are a lot of desperate people now days and I think it will be helpful to those who have won a large jackpot who don't want their names published. Now, I also agree, that I don't see the harm in posting where the ticket was purchased (like the store or town) but I do like the idea, of not posting the persons name. If that is what they choose.

I agree! With today's economy, more and more people are getting desperate. I don't think it's safe anymore to post a millionaire's name publicly. I can see posting where it was won and how, but definitely not the person's personal info. Too dangerous nowadays

They don't always publish the who. It's the where and how.

And a 33 million jackpot winner from FL did go missing recently, but he was in a nasty dispute with a co-worker who claimed the ticket was his.

The Florida Lottery announced it will no longer post news releases with details on who, where and how prizes are won.

I, for one, go on there every day to see where the F5 was won and if it was a QP. I also like reading about scratch-off and other jackpot winners.

If you have a minute could you please go to flalottery. and send them a note letting them know what you think of that decision? Much appreciated.
