1. No longer spend 100% of money I get back on more tickets.

2. Try to play any Raffle that has 400,000 or less tickets

3. Only play 6/xx game here if jackpot =/ 13,500,000

4. Only play multistate games if annuity is $4,000,000 / year or more or

if after tax cash jackpot is at a certain level or greater.

5. Fantasy 5 only at or above $230,000.

6. Quit Fantasy 5 once tax rates go up.

7. Quit raffles once tax rates go up.

I finished the year matching 3+0 with 10 lines. No need for any resolutions, things are fine and getting better. I will buy some extra tickets tonight with my winnings from Tuesday's drawing.

Also, no more impulse buying. I've set a day of the week and an amount that I will play regularly. $1 per game per play (plus powerplay and Xtra on Lotto). It's an amount I can afford, and I'll never miss a drawing. No more P3 either.

Oh, and I'm gonna ignore those hunches or strong feelings that made me run out and drop a load on a number that never fell.

That's another $1,000 to $1,500 a year right there on top of the hundreds from before. 2010 is looking good already... [ More ]

I live in Miami, and I've noticed that almost all, if not all, of the top prizes for scratch-offs are won in little towns elsewhere in Florida. Maybe it's a fair trade-off since most jackpots are won here, but regardless I vow to never buy another scratch-off within Miami city limits. I'll save my money for when I'm on the road and pass through some place I've never heard of.

That's a few hundred $ staying in my pocket this year.

Congrats on getting MM in your state. MM seems to hate me as I NEVER get even one number so I rarely play it. I always wish for Powerball in CA but I still think Fantasy Five will do it for me. I HOPE to not waste money on scratchers in 2010. I added another line to my SLP ticket (totalling $4) but removed the QP line so the amount is the same.

When playing a game like MegaMillions, one can only afford to pick 25 or so of the lines they think might come up but it's usually one of the other 175,711,511 lines that comes up. Picking all the ones you don't think will come up can be expensive.

Have there been any official statements about bringing PowerBall to Ohio? The anti-gambling folks have a lot of political power in Ohio, they are trying to stop the building of a casino in Columbus in spite of the state wide votes and I've heard they have a strategy that might works or at least stall the project for years. I am trying to get anyone I know to do that, give up scratch offs. I tell people - drop scratch offs for 6 months and increase you 401k by 1% and see how you feel after seeing the extra money in your 401k in 6 months.

I intend to use my gambling fund wisely. I'll spend more time studying the lottery and developing my instinct and accuracy by playing more on paper than spending money. I'll focus on the TX Cash 5 first then work my way around to the other lotteries.

I think I will start concentracting on the big one, Mega Million I will be better off. Stop playing the pick 3 unless I really get a good hunch I will Play Tues, and Friday, Mega Million.mabe the pick 5 or 6 that's where the money is! I will just post numbers here for others. I seem to have luck picking numbers for eveyone so that is what I will do.

Agreed on Illinois, if we get PB at all. I think the Illinois Lotttery knows that PB would kill the state Lotto. Monday night would be the only night Lotto wouldn't be competing with PB and MM.

The rollovers tend to grind and it's only been hit 11 times this year with three drawings a week. The 5 of 6 and 4 of 6 prizes are pitiful and can't go up against 5 + 0 in a 5 + 1 game.

As for my personal resolution, it is not to increase my play because of the 2nd Chance drawings
