I'll usually spend $10 when I buy my Powerball tickets on 10 different numbers. It gives me 10 chances at the jackpot instead of just 5 (if each number cost $2 with powerplay). People say it's only $1 to possibly get a million for second prize instead of just $200,000, but all those extra $1's add up

Well, when I tried to buy my Powerball tickets the machine wouldn't take my playslip. The cashier tried several times, and even used a pencil to go over my number selections. Every time she tried to run the slip through the machine, it said invalid ticket . Maybe I should have taken it as a sign and used the quick pick, but I didn't think about that until later.

The automatic quintupling of 2nd place is the clincher for me.

Who wouldn't be kicking themselves over losing $800,000 because you didn't spend an extra buck for Powerplay

Thank you all for your responses. Everyone makes valid points. I think I am going to try using the powerplay. I would be disappointed if I won a secondary jackpot and didn't play the extra $1.00.

I always megaply when I play MM because I would be really po'd if I missed on a million dollars to save a buck. The only game in Tx that pays a million or more is Lotto and the odds are almost 26 million to 1. Tx 2 Step has the best odds but rarely reaches a million dollar jackpot.

When PB gets to Tx I'll buy the powerplay. The chances of getting 5+0 are just so much better than getting 5+1, not to mention the lower tier prizes as well.

Without. The jackpot is the only real prize in Powerball and the more chances you have of hitting it the better. There are plenty of million dollar plus games with better odds than hitting five white balls in powerball.

I would go always with the powerplay because of way better odds of getting second place rather than jackpot and how would you feel about missing out on a mil because of an extra buck.

It's all a matter wether you want the power up money added. Four sets of numbers gives you that added two sets that could possibly have one of them hit.

If you were only going to spend $8.00 a week on Powerball tickets, would you spend your money on two sets of numbers for each drawing and Powerplay or four sets of numbers for each drawing without the Powerplay? (I use a wheeling system, though a very small one, lol.
