With all these theories of how to improve your odds and beat the lotteries, someone is going to have win a lottery jackpot to have any credibility and probably once they've done that they won't interested discussing any theory about improving the odds and beating a lottery.

So if I was to say I know for the next powerball drawing the following:

1. 1 WB will come from 5 balls.

2. 1 WB will come from 3 balls that are different than the 5 balls in 1.

3. 1 WB will come from 4 balls that are different from 5 balls in 1. and 3 balls in 2.

4. I have no clue what the other 2 WBs will be or the PB.

How much have I improved my overall odds with this information?

Several times Sally has said her friend plays 8 tickets. 8 into 13.9 million is 1.75 million to 1. I have the feeling that's the actual odds improvement we're talking about here instead of 17,500 to 1. Nothing wrong with playing all the numbers on a minimum number of lines or playing several sets of them, can be done randomly or with some thought going into half the lines and the rest randomly made from the numbers left over. 65% of 1,000 times is 650 times. A 5 times jackpot winner is big news, imagine the news of a 650 times jackpot winner.

I think skepticism at your claims are well deserved. I don't know who this Colin fella is nor have I been reading his posts but to be frank, your claims are making you look like a loony and the personal attack on Colin isn't doing your image any favours.

When playing just a few lines, I simply run through them to make certain that there's no smaller number combinations shared by any two of the numbers so that I know that I'm getting a wide a field as possible with those few tickets. If the minimum prize is for a three number match then I make certain that there are no three number sequences shared by all the lines. A system for reducing the odds on matching all 6 numbers chosen out of a field of 49? No. However if you're talking about a system to minimize the number of tickets required to cover all 5 number combinations then it's possible but this really doesn't improve your chances but rather avoids the risk of inadvertently making your chances worse.

For example, if you bought the following ticket:

1 2 3 4 5 6

It would cover the following six five number combinations.

1 2 3 4 5

Keep track of all your matches and the number of lines you play and you should be able to figure your real odds of winning a jackpot using you friend's system. Below is a chart showing the odds of a match normally expected in a 6/49 game. If your odds are really reduced to 1:17000 then you should beat those odds by 82258%.

I find it funny that whether you buy one ticket or one hundred tickets your odds of winning are effectively zero.

If buying 13.9 million unique tickets guarantees one 6/49 lottery jackpot and buying one ticket is up against 13.9 million unique combinations, what falls inbetween must be valid as well, provided as you say we're looking at odds and not playing expecting a solid hit.

so 2/6 isnt equal to 1/3 ? its more like 4/6 of losing. i hear you about the not destroying 7 million odd by buying one extra ticket. if only we could always lose 7 mill chance by buying an extra ticket.

2 tickets = 13M-2 out of 13 mill odds of losing

4 tickets = 13M-4 out of 13 mill odds of losing

8 tickets = 13M-8 out of 13 mill odds of losing

Only if you believe in an odds improvement ratio and aren't playing to hit solid.

Every line played reduces the numbers of combinations covered by one combination and only one combination.

In an endeavor (hitting a jackpot) with odds in the tens of millions and hundreds of millions to one, each combination covered isn't even a fraction of one grain of sand on a beach.

Odds are calculate by chances to win to chances of losing and reduced to the lowest common denominator. If you're playing craps and your point is 5, there are 4 ways you can win by rolling a five and 6 ways you can lose by rolling a 7. The odds against you are 4 to 6 and reduced to 2 to 3. Buying 100 tickets in a 6/49 game gives you 100 ways to win and by subtracting 100 from all the possible ways (13,983,816) gives odds of 100 to 13,983,716 or 1 to 139,837.

There is a mid point where the odds improvement ratio goes into decline.

If you continue the progression you end with

13.9 tickets in 1 (chance to win) so in that sense it works.

Oh, that's right, half your odds is a fairy tale and the truth is each additional set of numbers played only reduces the possible combinations not played by one.

That only true if you're talking about matching 6, if you're talking about matching 5 then you've covered an additional 6 combinations of fives and if you're talking about matching 4 then there a good chance you've covered an additional 15 combinations of fours.

Your friend may actually believe she has such a system and in that case she wouldn't be lying to you even if it not true. If she has worked out such a system then she should be scoring small wins more often and possible a jackpot real soon.

It's not unusual for some lottery players to have such thoughts especially if they have little or no knowledge of math. I've even read ads of people on the Internet making similar claims trying to sell their systems to the gullible.

She might be lying, or she might just be wrong. It all depends on what the system is, but one thing is sure: you can't change the odds of a random game of chance.

Wheels are commonly suggested, so there's a good chance that is what she's talking about, but wheels are pure BS. The logical conclusion to wheeling would be to play a wheel that includes only as many numbers are drawn, because then you are guaranteed to win, but only if those numbers are drawn. Such systems are called conditional meaning the odds are reduced when conditions are met and you lose when they are not, balances out.

There are also scam systems/pools that claim they reduce your odds, they do not.

Take a 6/49 game. The odds are 13.9 million to 1 meaning if you buy one ticket of 6 numbers it is 1 chance in 13.9 million.

However, if you make a 12 number wheel, the odds of 6/49 winning numbers falling among 12 rather then 6 is 1 in 1 in 15,134 a considerable dif... [ More ]

Could you tell us what game it is, how many numbers are in play, the matching requirements, the exact number of combinations in the game?

There are some players here that will be able to answer your question better with a little more info. Is your friend looking for sympathetic investors? Have you ever heard of Snake-Oil? If it works on paper every time BEFORE the draw, you may be on to something,.....

A friend of mine has worked out a system on the lottery where by she has reduced the odds from nearly 14.000.000 to 1 down to 17.000 to 1,

That s 822 times easer to win she has just finished working it out, she only plays a few lines at a time each play,

My question is this IS IT POSSAIBLE or is she lying to me, I have been on the internet and found no lotto system in the world that can do that please give me your comments on it thanks sally.
