Last year a $10,000,000 illinois lotto ticket went through unclaimed.

Kind of interesting on what is on the list....

Lotto ticket from 1/10 is still unclaimed. ($4,250,000)

I would have been at their front door with bells on...

If I remember right, rdgrnr, that happened before. I think it was discussed here. The outcome was that a court decided the jackpot gets divvied up according to the date of the drawing, not the date of the divorce.

That would work with a scratch-off but the draw date on a pick game is a dead giveaway as to whether the winning was during the marriage or not.

Some time a out of town visitor to CA happens to buy lottery tickets while visiting and forget about it; relatives should remember the exact time when a ticket was purchased and figure it out--I would not doubt in this case this might be the story--to go unclaimed for so long...

HAHA I wish I could say OH MY GOD!!!!! I think I have that ticket. Yes I remember now. I was on my way home from the store and ran in the gas station to buy a ticket and stashed it in my glovebox. Yep it must be buried in there! LOL

It also may have been thrown in the garbage , I have seen it many times when the clerk makes mistake tikits and cant sell em they toss em in the can . I sure hope it isn't the case and someone claims that big win .

1)The buyer of the ticket, is careless and lost the ticket! or it's left in a pants -pocket that is washed now it's tissue paper...unreadable, oh the horror!! Or he/she never took time to checked...something happened in his or her life that was devastating (severe Illness, tragic death in the family, bad divorce) A number of things, other than the person been a moron.
