The state lotteries keep 50% in almost every lottery game so it's not reasonable to offer or ask for winner-take-all or winner-take-most type games. However they could add more side bets with the same keep at least in their pick-3 and pick-4 games. Why not offer a sum bet, one position digit bet, two two position digits bet, and any one or two digits in any position?

How about a side bet for another dollar in Pick 5 and 6 on the color of the balls drawn.....something like three orange, one green, one blue. It would be a small payoff but certainly more than winning $1 for 2 of 5 in a Pick 5.

Or if players wanted, they could bet on the sequence of colors, exact order, and that would be a much nicer payoff. Nothing like hitting a jackpot, but something to make things a little more interesting

I've come up with quite a few of my own.

- In one of them, instead of drawing 3 numbers, they draw 3 letters A-Z.

- In one of them, there are about 12 balls, and you have to predict the order that all of the balls will fall.

- In one of them, you select two numbers between 1 and 10, two numbers between 11 and 20, etc., up to, say, 40 or 50, and the official draws two numbers between 1 and 10, two numbers between 11 and 20, etc. This can also be done in increments of 5 instead of 10.... [ More ]

I'd like to see a five number game with a smaller number field and smaller starting jackpot. I know there are some states that have a lottery like this already...like a 1-25 game. That would be nice for me. I would still play the bigger games, but I'd love the odds on a smaller one. I'm always afraid NC is going to add a few extra numbers to Cash 5.

One possibility, the game would be called Ottol (Lotto spelled backwards). Let's say it's a 6/49 game.

Instead of 6 numbers being drawn, 43 numbers would be drawn and the numbers not drawn are the winning numbers. In other words, you're betting on what numbers would stay in the bowl, not come out.

And somehow the payoputs would be wide , not narrow, i.e., more than one jackpot winner. Maybe once it hit a certain jackpot amount, over $25 million say,there would be a second, third, and fourt... [ More ]

Yeah, I'm with you on this one, joker. Actually, this would probably be the ONLY thing I changed other than getting rid of the RNG method. The pretests, and, how many they conduct play a big role in the actual draw. It's been proven that if they were to just run one draw after another, with no pre-run, the winner statistics would change for our favor...think about that one.

I would do something like the El Gordo lottery - Big prizes and guaranteed winners via a raffle. I know a lot of lotteries do rafles, but it's usually a once-a-year thing. It should be every week. We'll call it PowerRaffle or MegaRaffle.
