There are lots of LP members who post 8000+ numbers every day on the prediction board and never match anything close to the winning numbers in any games. Does that mean lotteries are being fixed so LP members who predict for bragging rights and not money are being cheated too? Or could it mean that the odds of having the winning numbers are such that even the numbers you think about playing would be losers if you played them.

Lottery terminals are computers . My computer remembers everything I put in it including what I have deleted . So there computers remember every set of numbers entered QP or not . A total of each individual number is readily available . Therefore it is posible to to fix the outcome on a ball machine or a computer drawn unit to suit their needs .

Thats the way I see it . But I'm a sucker for punishment . I still play and HOPE .

If the state uses the same method for both, then I'll play 'em. I honestly believe this is where the biggest problem lies with computer draws. Why use two styles when one or the other will suffice? It's just another way for them to maintain an edge on things in my opinion.

With computerized drawings I would like to think everything is on the up and up.......but your absolutely right. Anything could be put into the system without making it too obvious.

One of the FEW good things about IL is all the lottery games are ball drops.

I can only speak for myself but if I believed the games were rigged I wouldn't play them.

i don't know about other states but in nc we was watching a drawing 5 was in the hole something came on about the earthquake and as a mystery we got 447 not being able to see the drawing i would've seen the 547 which i was playing if it would've remained the 5 in the hole..... was this rigged absoutely yes just seemed messy i feel like states should be fined when their cititzens have money riding on things alot of time in the midday we get alot of pre draw numbers there is a 40 min gap between m... That is why when these games go to computer drawings that can become a very real scenario. They have all the info they need to make a rollover (or anything else) happen if they wanted to. It is all at their finger tips. Have the computer check what has been bought vs. what they want the computer to spit out, all without anyone being the wiser. They usually conduct one to four pre-drawing tests...

Looks like you really can't get an answer without requesting the official procedures. Sure looks like they have a lot of leeway if they can decide which is a test draw or official draw after seeing the numbers. Hard to believe they would allow that.

A long time ago some of the people in charge of the balls used for the NY lottery were caught puting water in some of the balls so they wouldn't be blown up into the tubes and their numbers would have a better chance of coming out. They went to jail. The lottrery officals don't care who wins. the prize pool is the same percentage of the funds collected no matter what, so why would they have to fix who wins.

The worst thing anyone can do playing the lottery is assuming they are suppossed to win.

The house is suppossed to win and does over 99% of the time. And when the house does lose, when someone does hit a jackpot, it is all the other players that lost that pay the jackpot winner.

I've never had a reason to believe or saw any evidence the drawings are rigged simply because of the odds of the game and the payoff structure. With 195 million possible combinations, PB would have to sell 20 million tickets for only 10% of the possible combos. With 5,138,133 possible white ball combination there should be about 4 five number matches. It doesn't mean the jackpot can't be hit, but the odds of a rollover greatly favors the house.

How could the officials decide who will be the next winner based just on the tickets? The purchaser's names aren't on the betslips or tickets. Stores sell hundreds if not more tickets a day. How could they pinpoint who bought what?

And like cointoss said, why would they even bother? They get their money no matter who wins.

MM and PB are ball draws, not computer draws.

They are rigged arleady.......

by virtue of the odds. They don't have to do any rigging or checking numbers before the draw, because at 195+ million to 1 odds for PB and 175+ million to 1 odds in MM, the chances of you or me or anyone winning is infintesimal.

Small games have been rigged before. The Pennsylvania Lottery's three digit numbers game was rigged many years ago... they weighted some of the balls. Called the 1980 Pennsylvania Lottery scandal ... well documented.

For a big game like Powerball, it's practically a license to print money for the operators. I doubt they would risk killing the goose that lays the golden egg for a game like that.

But you never know.

So suppose people bought advance ticket plays so they wouldn't have to run back to the store if the jackpot wasn't won.

Most winning tickets are quick picks not self pick tickets for mega and powerball.

Wouldn't everyone like to believe so, but certain things make me wonder. For an example, the big one.. Computerized drawings. Another example, didn't the MM jackpot get hit 2 times in a row recently? What if that happened often, I imagine they would start losing money faster than they are gaining it.

I don't think they are selecting the winning number persay, but I do think there's more behind that computerized drawing than a random number generator.

Lottery directors could care less who wins or loses. Their main interest is selling tickets and awarding checks to people who win. Neither the lottery directors nor the balls in the machine have a clue who bought the winning ticket
