When the clerk messes up your ticket do you keep it??

That's what I do. I spend a fair amount of time deciding what numbers I'm going to play each draw. In my case it wouldn't make sense to accept a number that wasn't part of my workout. I may as well just ask for quick picks and be done with it. OK, a bit to the extreme, but you get the idea.

'maybe that could be the problem'... maybe, as alot of big winners in NY are from the big bad city.. but lately I have seen alot of winners from the CNY area in Take 5 and we had a couple of scratch off million winners.

And yea I once tried to 'buy' mistake ticket from a customer in front of me, but they gave me a bad look and gave it back to the clerk saying 'just give me what I asked for' Lucky I heard what the number was - 952 and I bought it on my own and got a box hit on it... [ More ]

bashley572 you live in the middle of New York and maybe that could be the problem...:):)..Always and tiggs means always keep the bad ticket and if you see a ticket on the machine that someone turned back BUY IT..Good luck bashley..

I don't have any actual experience with incorrect tickets, but I'd keep it and then buy the correct one. Everything I've read always says that you should keep the mistake tickets because they are often the winners! I fill out bet slips, but sometimes (like tonight) the machine won't read them and the clerk has to enter them by hand, so there's still the possibility of a mistake.

I end up doing the same thing 'went to another store and got the tickets' Even when I hand clerks playslips - if its more than one they will mess them up such as play one two times and miss the other one

I would keep the ticket and purchase another with the correct number, sometimes the mistake ticket is the winning ticket. Seen it happen here a few weeks back, actually happened twice and the guy won $450 on the number bxd and the lady won $4,500 str8. Yeah man, I would keep the mistake ticket.

If it is a pick 3 or pick 4 and I have the money.......I will keep the ticket.......Over a year ago I was buying my tickets box at .50 cents each.......the clerk gave me the tickets straight......she always had trouble with the tickets I wanted so I Kept the tickets straight.......and went to another store and got the tickets boxed..........well the number came in straight and I made 300 dollars on that mistake......plus I got an additional 50 dollars for getting it boxed........so yes if I have... you are so right blessed , to many times certain clerks make mistakes. they think if the got you once they'll get you again. I always fill out the slips now.

I keep the ticket only if it was a honest mistake, this store I go to next to my job don't have much business she purposely make the mistakes so you can buy more. people like that I try not to play at places like that before I caught on I would buy the mistakes none of them never came out.

I have one to add that I forgot. I used a PLAYSLIP and filled it out wrong (and get this I wanted 818 but put 181 on the ticket!) **but** didn't know till I checked the ticket and saw that I won - that was a nice hit

Keep it, I have actually won on tickets were the clerk put the wrong number in, I had ask for *167* 2x and he gave me *166* 2x and it hit straight I kept them both.

For me it also depends. I have bought a few mistake tickets in the past (other peoples mistakes) if I have the extra money or if I felt they were lucky, but since I always fill out playslips, I don't recall having to buy mistake tickets made by the clerk.

Because sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't.

It depends on how much money I have, how I feel about the number, etc...

Every mistake I have ever kept has done nothing but cost me extra money.

And I have bought quite a few.

So me buying mistakes nowadays gets farther and farther between.

If I have enough money, I'll keep the ticket. If they make a mistake and cancel the ticket I ask them what was the #, and buy it back. That happened to me one time and i brought the # back and it came out box. Another time I was buying a # box and the clerk made a mistake and put it straight she asked me If I wanted it straight and I said no only box. Don't u know when I when to the store to see what # played, I was so mad at myself for canceling the straight ticket.

Yes, because i know where there was a family own store and they made a mistake on the ticket and the customer didn't want it. They won the powerball just because they made a mistake. Iwas a nice mistake.

I went to the store to by 818 and the clerk gave me 181. Lucky I noticed it before I got home, I did keep the ticket and went back and got the 818.

Curious what other people do? Keep it? or go back and turn in the wrong one for the correct one.
