If you want one that he likes use something with big in it: Big Man, Big Bopper, you know, something like that. Make sure you use it in public and in mixed company and all occasions and especially in front of your girlfriends when he's present. It's also nice to refer to him as The King of My World . That's always a nice touch.

I whole heartedly agree with you. If the relationship was already on the rocks anyway, then it shouldn't matter now. Money should never be a cause to stay together, or to split up. There are lot of couples out there with plenty of money and they're miserable due to other things. This let's me know that money truly isn't everything and doesn't change anything.

Seriously dont ya thnk it depends on the health of the marriage to begin with? Luckily if I ever did make that leap of faith it would be with a person that carries my financial views (ohh and a pre nup!). Well said. Been there, done that. Still enough lingering bitterness and lack of trust to have no desire to marry again.

However, if I were to eventually remarry.. the answer would still be no, I would not divorce/separate/kill off my spouse. If I did not remarry, I'd be sure to have me a gaggle of boy-toys to keep me company.

The spouse already left nearly 2 years ago...The question now is would I take them back, if I won.....HELL NO...even if the meddling mother in law were 6 feet under.

I would get me the shrewdest attorney to make sure the estranged spouse couldn't get a dime. It would go to my kids in a trust though.

There was a case in Florida several years ago similiar to what you asked. A man got a divorce and for 10 years never heard a word from her; did not know where she was; did not know if she were dead or alive. He won the Florida lotto. She came out of the woodwork with lawyer in hand. A judge gave her half of what he had won.

My answer is no.

Considering some of the reasons either way in this thread, for those who say yes, well, if that was the case you'd never know another moment's peace, not only from the suddenly ex getting a lawyer but factor in the stalkers once word got out.

Also, wasn't there a case talked about here on LP where someone got divorced six months or so prior to hitting a jackpot and the ex hired a lawyer and got at least half, if not more of it

If someone would even consider saying yes to that question shows how they truly feel about their spouse even now.

That means it is time to rethink the relationship as it currently stands.

Like I tell my wife whenever she asks, While I might have the money to leave you, I pray to G-d that I have enough common sense not to.

We have already decided that when we win the Big One , we will divide the money evenly. She can put her share in her bank account and spend the money anyway she deems fit. I can put my share in my bank account and spend the money anyway she deems fit.

Concerning the irrevocable trust, she would probably sue you for not revealing it to her while married, and would win based on that. The very moment she realizes you're spending the type of money only a wealthy man can have, she'll get her lawyer.

The only way to get away with it is to live a double life. But that will catch up to you sooner or later. So it's a lost cause.

Just split the money, and you'll be able to sleep at night.

I don't have a spouse at the moment, but no, I wouldn't just pack up and leave if I won the lottery. If I was truly unhappy with someone, I would probably end the relationship before I came into a bunch of money.

Why leave the wife and basically forfeit half of your winnings in alimony and/or marital divisions in divorce court?

A better idea is to lie and hide your assets in irrevocable trusts. :)

A happy naive wife is better than a vindictive wife with a lawyer.
