The necessary complex math was done when the lottery games were designed, Pumpi. If you look at the statistic of any state pick-3 game, you'll see the payoffs over time have averaged around 50% so if the lottery sells $200 million tickets a year, they should expect to keep $100 million as profit. To get more volume of play, the lotteries offer other bets on same outcome that still retains the about 50% profit margin.

To insure there is no mathematical way to predict the outcome and to make it... [ More ]

pumpi76

I chased the seed , with much effort and agree If one could know it's method of selection you would

be well on your way. I at one time had 4 realy fast striped down computers set up for number crunching.

Each one had a different RNG with a random seed . I set each to generate around 10,000 sets of numbers

at a time and then check the results against a actual draw database. Each time one of the 10,000 sets

would match a drawing from the database I would record the seed used... [ More ]

Pumpi, all the lotto games are based on mathematics, okay. This is how they came up with the odds of winning the prize which is paid out for a given hit. People that hit boxed or straight with only $5 or so is pure luck and the states can afford this because it doesn't happen very often.

Even the boxed hits are limited with the dollar amount people are willing to spend. This is what the states count on in terms of averages. They know people will lose by not spending their money the right way.... [ More ]

Lotteries aren't problems to be solved, they are contrived random events. Math can tell us the number of possible outcomes and the odds of a player predicting or coming close to predicting the outcome of that event. Fact are lotteries creators use math to design lotteries to fit a particular group of players and to make sure they will make a profit.

Math is too rigid a science to be applied to random events. One will never be able to use math to make one successful prediction after another.

However, math can give you headaches, stomach cramps, leg twitches, and eye strain; just like the lottery.

No... the numbers on the balls do not represent anything, they are meaningless. They are just a way to keep track of which ball popped up the chute. If the balls were color coded you would not use a box of crayons to determine the next draw would you? Using math to determine lottery numbers is like using math to determine exactly what is going to happen 3 minutes 26 seconds into the super bowl in 2013. They just simply have nothing to do with one another. In my opinion RNG's are the only thing t... [ More ]
