exactly why i stick to the min bet theory, odds are just slightly better than not buying a ticket.

another story i can recount is when i hit 4 numbers ona min bet, got $40, the guy before me had spent about $100 on tickets and also won 4 numbers.

i asked the sales lady, im glad i didnt bet like him and she told me it was over $100 worth of tickets, same prize as i walked away with Im happy that day.

I'll admit that sometimes I look around while driving and think about how bad the odds actually are, I mean they could all play and all lose. Makes me feel pretty un-motivated to play because of how stacked the odds are against me. It's like going to New York, picking out one address and the person living there being someone you know... except times twenty.

Yes, I have felt this way. I'm beginning to wonder will I ever hit anything of any value. I think about all the $$ I've spent if I had invested all that into a SAVING account, we wouldn't need to HIT it! I can't tell u when the last time I had three numbers. Let alone anything other. I wonder if anyone else is having any luck. If so please, share your knowledge.

i go to a local bar, that has slots and a lotto terminal, also plays keno.

well i buy my lotto there and usually a few bucks of keno

lately ive been putting a buck or 3 intoslots while waiting. nothing big i hate losing money

well won $130 on a jackpot last week, and yesterday on a $1 machine, i won $84.

makes me think im wasting time on keno.

but oh welll i freeking hate slots becasue theyre too good at taking your money too fast.

When I was spending hundreds of dollars on chasing the powerball I felt like I wasted my money !!! I of course gamble on horses,dogs, craps, and poker. I now play the p3 seriously and I have to honestly say if I started to think about it then its time to hang it up ! You have TO HAVE confidence in what you want to acheive. Once you start thinking about your loses you start to feel sick !!! LOL,

In my case that close relative is an Obama voter who would give 90% of what I gave her to her church with the Obama loving preacher, and I don't want him to have it. Therefore, because I still love her, I'd pay for all her big ticket neccessties like medical bills and nothing more.

For the money played and the chance to win the amounts the jackpots are it's not really a bad deal, cheap entertaiment in fact, as long as you don't let it control you.

People who get carried away and then get p.o'd about losing and want their money back have no business playing in the first place.

i treat playing the lottery (pick 3/4) as a hobby..yes a expensive hobby!

I do win straight about once a month that makes me feel its worth it..and the box wins pay for the plays in between...

so its not a waste if you enjoy playing and sometimes winning..

Lottery is about the only vice that may have a nice payoff. EVerything else that involves money coming out of my pocket will either give me heartburn, cancer or VD.

When I play the lottery I at least get something back, whether it's a few dollars here or there or the excitement from checking the numbers. Plus, you can't win without losing first.

I'd consider insurance a waste of money long before I'd consider this a waste of money. Spent $100+ a month for years and have never had to use it, never getting anything back or never even any excitement from it.

I no longer smoke cigarettes (regular, or left handed kind). I don't imbibe in alcohol anymore. I'd like to chase wild women, but my better half would not understand it at all to say the least. I agree, the odds are stacked against winning, but people DO win the lottery. There was a discussion about this subject one night on a San Francisco radio station call-in show. A lottery player on the east coast won a huge jackpot after using his last dollar to buy a single ticket. I don't as the UK lottery takes a percentage of each lottery ticket sold and donates that percentage to charities and good causes, so in a way when I play and don't win, I know I have done my part in helping a good cause seeking financial help. Plus I know sooner than later my time to hit big is on the way, its all about being patient.

I feel great when PLAYING the lottery and buying tickets, then it falls flat when I check them.......

Crappy, only one winner out of a bunch of tickets.

But wait....... It just jumped up to near record levels. And they have a possible doubler on the jackpot....

I'm feeling better already!

Possible over 300 grand on a pick 5 game and 169,000 to 1 odds.....

I feel everyone should crawl before they walk. Stop wasting your money on odds that are as comparable to getting hit by lightning 3 times in a row. Start with the P-3, and work your way up.

As far as I know, no one has successfully proven they've made a living off the P-3 with only 1 in a thousand for a straight hit, much less hudreds of thousands and even millions and hundreds of millions.....l... [ More ]

Blasting the old junk cars and trucks in your front yard with a shotgun from the front window works wonders for stress too. I've found it to be way better than positive thinking.

Actually though, it's the most fun with the .50 Cal Desert Eagle. I love the sound of a .50 Cal in the morning... sounds like... victory.

Good question. My answer is a qualified No. Since the more you spend the greater your chances of hitting a jackpot, if you spend more than you can afford at the expense of necessities, you are not really wasting money, but you are definitely being irresponsible. My rule of thumb for poor people is to spend no more than they can earn in Hour per week, and for others, no more than they can earn in 1 Hour per week.
