Some years ago there was an Australian group that tried to buy all the possible combinations in a Virgina lottery. They made out play slips and waited for the jackpot to get large enough to make a profit by buying all the combinations. They took over three Seven-Eleven stores terminals for three days and tried to run all their play slips and even thought they didn't run them all they did win the jackpot. Fortunately they were the only jackpot winner and they made a profit.

Afterward most stat... [ More ]

When lottery was first introduced in UK over 15 years ago, there was a lot of media coverage and I vaguely remember hearing an expert or lottery insider said that a ticket terminal will shut down if it detects an attempt to process all possible combinations.

Online account holders can only play by filling in boxes on screen up to 25 or 35 lines at a time. Syndicate accounts can have more lines, but still not possible to play full permutation entries like the football pools coupons.

Has anyone come across a lottery operator that puts out play slips designed for wheeling systems ?

If not, don't you find it strange ?

I would have thought this to be an excellent marketing ploy to get players to part with more money, and save time for syndicate players.

In fact I suspect this could either be a terms and licensing issue for the lottery operators, or a conspiracy to discourage large systematic bettings.
