I play more money on the Tx 2 Step than any other game because the odds are so much better and I could put both of my kids thru college on $200000.

Tomorrow night it's up to $375000. That works even better.

I've been thinking about this lately. I've been playing games where the jackpots were in the hundreds of thousands. If I won $200,000, I would:

Pay off all or most of my student loans

Maybe get a new smartphone

Make definite plans of going to grad school in Europe next year like I'm originally planning

And Probably immediately move to Europe since that's one of my main life goals

And I'd get myself the new ipod touch...oh, and a new laptop

The Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation (which handles a majority of my student loans) has a section on their site for the lottery and it says money will only be witheld if you are in default, which I'm not. I'd figure that most every other lender goes by the same rules.

Either way if they want to take care of all that for me then good for them, I'm sure some people might be upset that they take it out before you get it but since it's the first thing I'd do anyways it's a non-issue... [ More ]

Right there with ya ridge. I sell furniture and I get so tired of dealing with people. I sold a couple curio cabinets to an older couple Saturday, and I felt sorry for the lady. She wanted them for an early Christmas gift and he was downright mean to her. He let her buy them but, man what an a--hole. She was embarrassed by the way he talked to her and to me.

I don't like shopping, phones, or people too much anymore either.

In Louisiana, I'd get $140,000 after tax. The first thing I'd do is pay off my mortgage and buy my wife a new car. My car is only a year old that is already paid for, mainly because I was able to put almost 50% down on a new car because I got paid for my car being totaled last year and got some money for my injuries.

If shopping is paying off student loans, then yes.

With $200,000 I wouldn't really go out and splurge on stuff since it's really not that much, especially considering the amount that would go to the tax man (unless the $200,000 is after all that stuff, in which case it still isn't an extremely large amount of money).

Watch out where you go shopping, buddy.

A lot of stores carry a lot of that junk they make in China that doesn't work and falls apart right away.

Always check the label. If it says Made in China, you know for sure it's junk.

We should be boycotting them anyway until they get out of Tibet and let the Dalai Lama come home.

The first thing I would do is pay my tithes.

Set aside $100 thousand, just to make sure I have enough to pay taxes on this win.

Here in TX taxes will be taken out once you hit a million dollars. (I think)

I would then use the remaining $80 thousand to pay down certain bills and of course spend on the kiddies and grand kiddies.

Anything left goes into my gambling fund for my next jackpot win.

hubby and i have 'plans' for every larger prize.

with 200K, we would set more than half aside, use the rest to buy new furniture (2 kids and the animals have effectively ruined most of our stuff LOL), hubby wants new tools, get new appliances (ours are just old and outdated), let the kids have a mini shopping spree... just enjoy our 'spending money' and save the rest
