Ditto, Yes, something strange is occuring with whatever algorithm in use to pull out the winning ticket numbers. A couple of guys that won 2x each in Drawing 1 for the Magic both won yet again.... 2x each in Drawing 3

Now I dont care that much about a few trinkets and I'd rather have any ticket cash prize but I do like the Magic and entered my non-winning tickets hoping even for the lowest prize.... a shirt.

What in the world does that one person who won 5x want to do with 10 shirts and 5... [ More ]

wow wow wow all I have to say is the 2nd chance drawing on Miami Heat and Orlando Magic is a scam !!!

I submitted 30 tickets for todays drawing and did not win a thing while I see that some other players won 5 TIMES EACH

Yeah, its actually not that hard to make a mistake too, which explains why there are probably a few winners thrown in the trash from time to time.

Even though I take all my tickets home to scratch and carefully doublecheck them, a few times I have overlooked a winner! But luckily the 2nd chance Replay entry system checks that you definitely are only entering losing tickets. I'll only go for the cash. Don't forget, if it's a non-cash prize such as a $25,000 car, Uncle Sam still wants several thousand in taxes since that car is considered income.

That is actually true about selling them. There are ads on Boston Craigslist seeking them. One guy is paying $30 for 100 second chance tix! I would not consider buying losing tix to enter.

Heh...I don't yet have the balls to go for the trash can, just abandoned ones on the counter.

Yesterday at my favorite store, I saw the same old guy come in and do the same thing: pop the lid off the trash can, dig inside, grab some tickets, and then leave. I wonder if there are more diggers for this store too? I can imagine some squabble erupting: Hey young punk, stay out of my can! I got dibs from 8AM to 1PM. You can take the slot at midnight to 6AM, everything else is taken!

Massachusetts has many second chance drawings. I have won a few times but always sports merchandise, jerseys, lackets, hats etc...

The one I am focusing on right now is The Price is Right $5 ticket. I have over 200 entries for the next drawing and will get more in before they announce the date for that drawing. In CA we also have a replay for the Fantasy 5 lotto called Bonus Bucks. It's pretty cool.(well, will truly be cool if I win a drawing! ;)

I agree with you 100%. To me the scratchers are getting worse all the time. Since Florida is a major state we should have major prizes like those offered by New York Lottery. Florida also is a heavy tourist state which means that folks who come here to visit buy tickets and in some cases they win.

Also, looks like a lot of people are turning to Fantasy 5. Best odds of winning anything significant. But seeing the jackpot often being split. And recent split 24 times twice! Which kinda sucks, bu... [ More ]

It sounds like the lottery is not offering as many goodies for regular players. I'm sure they are happy enough with the mass population that may buy and not think of doing research/strategies like us here reading and posting on this board.

This information is making me rethink the strategies, I'm having a hard enough time staying focused on what I want to do (i'm sure the lottery loves that too because I lose more when I dont' stick to my plans).

I have had a friend win 3 different cars from the lottery in the last 20 years. Cash was not an option and each time he had to shell out up to $5 grand per car to keep them. It was a pain for him as he was always strapped for cash. But he sold 2 got some money and owns the 3rd free and clear now.

I agree, I don't like non-cash prizes. The Colorado Lottery had a scratch ticket for the Denver Girl Scouts er, I mean Broncos (sorry Girl Scouts, you're winners and I didn't mean to insult you like that).

I think the prize for the 2nd chance drawing was a set of Broncos season tickets, they were some really great seats, maybe even in a box. That is plausible about it being fishy (multiple same winners on 2nd chance) especially since some of them are to BBall games. The main reason this is possible is because actual drawings for ball games are witnessed usually by independant attorney firms, while the 2nd chance drawing I doubt the lottery office has attorney's present. They probably have a designated person who draws the winners and could be skewed. Ya never know.

I haven't seen an overall 2nd chance in FL yet, but I've only been playing for a couple months. I have seen where certain tickets are offering a 2nd chance that is related to that ticket.

For example, the NBA Orlando Magic $5ticket I have starated to play has 2nd chance. Prizes are Orlando Magic tickets, Fan merchandise etc.

NFL did it too, I played NFL Dolphins tickets but didn't win anything. I wasn't going to play NBA but I do like the Magic and want to get game tickets/merchandise, I... [ More ]

HA HA I just got back from the BP station by my work and noticed a Orlando Magic $5 scratch-off laying next to the trash (on the ground) can by the exit door. Im not gonna lie, I picked it up and will be entering it in the 2nd chance drawing here in FL =)

I did not however dig through the garage can lol It was actually laying next to the trash can..I promise

It's actually kind of a great idea, I just don't know if I could walk into a store and ask to dig around their garbage pails and dumpsters. On the one hand it's kinda silly and embarrassing and humiliating, but on the other hand we're talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars, even up to a million.

Even if you just end up with a scratch or lotto ticket that pays a few thousand, at the very least you'll have some tix you can claim as losses to offset the winnings.

No kidding, I've actually seen someone do this at a store I go to.

Some old guy came in, popped the lid on the trash can next to the lotto kiosk and scratch vending machines, reached in and pulled out some tickets, and walked back out of the store.

I guess he's a regular or something, I kinda observed the store owner casually took notice of him, paid it no mind, and then went back to the customer at the counter, like it was a regular thing

If you see people losing and throwing away the ticket when there is a 2nd chance drawing simply take the ticket or look for tickets in the trash you can use to enter, the more the better.....

Yeah, we've entered quite a few tix in that one as well as a $500,000 game. There's a couple of games that have $1 million jackpots that I think we've entered. It sure beats throwing the tixs away (which I never do anyway, I want the tax deduction if I win a sizeable amount).

The good thing about 2nd chance is that it is truly random.

Yes, the Scratcher Replay system here in CA is pretty good.(well, can't really say it's *good* until I win one of 'em! ;)

EVERY losing ticket is eligible for 2nd chance draw: (from calottery website)

After you have successfully entered your codes, they will be entered into TWO drawings:

We have 2nd chance drawings and there's 4 currently going on right now with the $5 tickets. I hate football, don't care about the Hershey's

getaway but wouldn't mind winning $200 on the Monopoly 2nd chance. That would be okay. PA needs to get a bit more generous...you have

that whopping $250,000 prize available. I would be entering that one a lot.

I was saying the same thing to myself last night. Noticed some people won multiple times. Im sure those people bought several books.

I remember last year when the $30 scratcher - $600 Million High Roller had a 2nd chance for the grand prize of $20 Million. All winners that won $1,000 or more on that game could enter. Some chick in my hometown won. She purchased her ticket at a gas station not far from me the year before.

Would be pretty sweet to win $1,000, and then a year later

Does your state have 2nd chance drawings for losing scratch-offs?

Here in Colorado, most tickets that are $10 or more have a second chance drawing for the grand prize. My wife and I currently have almost 3 dozen losers covering 6 different games. I've heard the odds are pretty good in these drawing since most people just trash their losing tickets.
