Somewhat ahead over the past decade or so. I was behind for several years but gradually pulled forward and balanced the sheet a couple of years ago. From then to now it's been more ups than downs, but close to the centerline.

I hit $5k on a scratch off (which I only play occasionally) and I play pick 3 at least once every other day. Hit $5,000 on one drawing and $1,000 a couple other. Now that schools done for this semester, I'm hoping I can start focusing in again on some big hits

I have a family member that won a JP that netted $11,000. (I know, you're wondering how can a JP net 11 grand? It was a New York Take5 JP of $68,000 split by four winners. Each winner got $17,000 minus $6,000 in taxes.)

For years I would just go get a grouper along with the $1 scratchers but then I asked myself.. is this what I REALLY want to win? The answer was no, so I started playing regular lotto numbers. Then the powerball was introduced and I play that when it gets about 50 million or so. a dollar is a dollar, if I'm going to lose it i might as well be dreaming big while doing so.

Pretty much just beginners luck lol.

When I first started playing, i played just my birthday box. Then a few weeks in, after if came out, started playing quick picks and hit for 414 dollars on the Pick 3. Well, since then, I've only had one other hit straight on a ticket, and the clerk gave it to me box for midday and straight for evening, so I only got the box.

i just do my best to keep it contained to less then what i spend on stuff like starbucks over the year LOL

limting my self to 1 buck if jackpot below 50m cash, , to 2 bucks when a jackpot above 50m, to 3 bucks near 75m, and 100m cash i tend to go about 4 to 5 bucks, , at that point capped to a new record setter appears, then i turn into buyer with a major case of lotto fever , like 240m cash mm jackpot we just had at start of this... That's much smarter than you think.

While Statisticians will tell you it's a waste to play lottery (And I LOVE statistics) truth be told, the only lotteries Worth playing are the big ones. Sure, odds are ridiculously low, but somebody wins. And if you are going to play lottery, you should play a game that IF you win - you are set.

I was easily ahead a couple months ago (I turned 18 last year, started playing a couple months later - got lucky with a couple QPs. and my bday, the 2nd time it hit, I happened to have it 5x box) but then I went on a scratch off binge- and yeah, those are only good IF you hit a giant prize)

I would have to say over my life time on playing the lottery I'm down around $2,500! And that's between the Calif. lottery 6/49 and the CA Super Lotto (when I lived there 85- 94) and the MM and PB games only!

ive never kept a ledger of expenses and winnings. i look at lotto like a retirement fund, when i win ill retire.

over 25 years playing. and around $450 avg a year. my only regret isnt coming up with my plan to have the winnings pay for new bets, early on in the peice like 20 years ago lol.

The odds just get worse and worse with each new ticket that gets released. When $5 and $10 tickets used to be 1 in 2.95 I was making profit. You just cant anymore when 1 in every 5 tickets win. Have to hope for that big winner these days or go home empty handed.

I've had a bunch of $100 winners and a $250 winners (made $210 profit thatday) but I always spend my profit back on tickets. I think anyone that plays on a regular basis is going to be down unless a jackpot is won. Unless someone buys 1 ticket only and wins more than the ticket price, I think its safe to say everyone is behind.

So far this year I've played 20 times and had a winning ticket 10 of those times but I'm down $276. When the overall odds of having a winning tickets are 1/36 - 1/54 and you spend $10 - $20 each time you play, even it you have a winning ticket (worth $2 - $10) every time you play, you're going to end up in a hole unless you win one of the higher tier prizes.
