Typically, you want to spend at least $5 on a scratcher for a pretty descent chance of geting your money back while still netting a profit from it. Now, this may happen over a period of time or it can happen instantly. Personally, I believe it's best to stick with one type of ticket until you win, and, hopefully recover your monies. Then, with the same monies, step up to a $10 ticket which should have better odds and payouts. The more the ticket costs, the better the payout and odds of actually... [ More ]

At least in NJ, anything $2 and up has the same prize allocation as a percentage of funds, with anything labeled spectacular aloocating extra. The best is a $10 one, but not far behind it is a $2 and $5 one. I usually just buy the $2 ticket, it has some pretty nice prizes.

I say 10 and 20.00, only because the 5.00 have not been good to me. I got boogered by Black, NFL Dolphins, Golden Goose, just haven't done well on those 5.00, lose 8 tickets in a row and get only a 5.00 win. The only one I haven't done as bad on 5.00 has been Orlando Magic but once 2nd chance prizes are over I won't play that anymroe. I have hit 100.00 several times on 10.00 ticket and 500.00 on 20.00 ticket.

I don't have a favorite; for me, it all depends on what I can afford and what seems hot at the time. I like the jackpots on the $10 and $20 tickets, so I try to get some of those in there. The $5 tickets have ever only won $50 for me while $2 tickets have won $100 three times, so I'm not crazy about $5 tickets. I play more $2 and $3 than $5, unless the $5 is a new game.

I've always liked $10 tickets, but lately the $30 ticket here in ny has paid off

1 in 6.58 of getting a $35 win, and like 1 in 50 or so for a $100 win I believe....I've gotten so many $100 wins/$70 profit from buying one of these tickets.
