I generally buy my tickets at the same place, but stop in other places when its convenient. Being over 70, still have all my hair (none of it grey) and often told I don't look over 50, most of the ticket buyers I see are younger than I am. I've lead a full adventurous life, still do, and expect to win the big one soon. To be collected without publicity. Blind trust or LLC.

I am 66 years old and play Pick 3 and Pick 4 FOR FUN. It is one of the few things left in my life that I truly enjoy.

The other reason I believe most of us old folks play is HOPE.

Nobody needs us or wants to be around us anymore, and

like the Pink Floyd song says, No one cares if you live or die.

So, just the hope of winning some cash now and then,

and the thrill of an occasional hit gives US HOPE.

Judging by myself and some of the other members here, I figured the average age would be late 40's to early 50's. I'm not surprised if there are many seniors. When my wife and I go to the casinos in Blackhawk, we see quite a seniors. They have the disposable income and they're looking for something to do. Gambling is a perfect match.

I've stopped at a few different stores since I've been playing and there's rarely someone older than 50 buying tickets, usually they're in their 30s. Myself I'm in the mid-20s but haven't been playing too long.

I've read the myth that the annuity disppears with the winner but I've read on many places it won't, as well as it being discussed on the Lottery Changed My Life show. If you win with annuity and pass away then your relatives should still benefit from the annuity.... [ More ]

Just guessing I'd say the average age of lottery players is older than the average age of people in the US.

I can only judge from my experience living in a predominately peckerwood part of a hillbilly state though.

The average age of LP members is radically skewed though by one really old guy in Kentucky.

That's an excellent question Toss.

I really dont have any idea of the average age of the members here at LP. My gut tells me it could be older than late thirties, but that's just emotion. Yeah, I would agree, Lotto Fever definitely brings out everbody, regardless of age.

I also agree that there are many younger players. For me though, with my little un-scientic observation, it's born more from looking at pictures of winners on the lottery's website, than it is from people watching in the s... [ More ]

my neices look at me like im a crazy uncle when i talk lotto.

but im sure i'll be sweet uncle fancy pants if i win.

no neices range form about 16 to 32, non of them play.

infact i have run into quite a few people who dont have a clue about it, how to enter, or what to check incase the won!

If I had to guess the average age I'd say 38, I bet Todd could figure it out.

My sub -division if full of the elderly, we all frequent the same store.

I'm not sure if it happens to be just wher you play (or Sully16, too), but judging from this board I'd say there are a whole lot of younger players.

I will say that when a jackpot gets pumped up, such as the last PB, and jackpot fever hits, it's definitely all ages that play.

What do you think the average age on this board is

It seems to me that many senior citizens play the lottery. That's a very unscientific observation I made just by being in stores and buying tickets myself, or by looking at various states lottery websites and seeing pictures of some of the winners of large prizes.
