One of my ex- mothers in law gave me a shiner one time but it wasn't the kind you drink.

It happened when I told her that I get hungry every time I see her.

She said: Why, because of my good down home cooking?

I explained to her: No, it's because you have so many double chins it looks like you're resting your head on a pile of pancakes and the back of your neck looks like a package of hot dogs.

That's when she gave me the shiner.

Signing a lottery ticket that won a small prize is a waste of time. It does not protect you. The only value in signing a ticket is if the ticket wins a major prize.

Now if you decide not to check the numbers yourself and rely on the retail clerk, then by all means sign the ticket.

It's in my repertoire, in the summer rotation.

And yes, I was somewhat taken aback and disheartened to learn that those European socialist types had bought off Augie Busch for the King of Beers. The traitor.

I still prefer it though over American brews like Sam Adams because who can drink more than eight or nine of those things without getting bloated?

I find Bud to be of the first order as a palate cleanser and chaser with Jack.

I never sign any lottery ticket! I don't want my personal name anywhere near a lottery ticket! When my numbers come in and win the jackpot, I'll use my corporation seal embossing tool on the lottery ticket with the corporation trust accounts name on it

I'm very fastidious about that (signing the ticket) because I left a ticket in the pocket of my red smoking jacket with the silk burgundy ascot one time and I swear one of the domestics must have siezed upon it.

I had to fire the whole staff, which saddened me to no end because I had grown quite fond of a few of them.

Pity really, because I found the ticket a few days later in my lavender smoking jacket with the silk aquatic scene ascot.

Oh well.
