Although RB28 hasn't hit in 277 drawings since the last matrix change, it still has a way to go before matching RB41 which went 324 drawings before hitting on 12/13/2000 after the matrix changed on 11/05/1997.

When RB25 hit on 10/02/1996, it had gone 283 drawings without a hit.

You assume incorrectly that everyone looking at the same histories will come to similar conclusions.

I look at the last 275 PB drawings without a RB28 and don't conclude RB28 is over due because I see that 80% of all RB had hit in their previous 81 drawings or less and conclude RB28 is unlikely to be in the next drawing.

I figure my chances for a win is as good as they'll ever be with 10-20 lines and I would play that many lines regardless of what happened in past drawings.

I think the main reason he and I will talk about gamblers fallacy, is because a lot of people feel as if past results actually do influence current outcomes, which can cause them to play more when there's a false basis for it, thinking that say, PB 28 is due - sticking that in with every White Ball combo they play or something.

However, if somebody sticks to their budget - then it's all the same whatever they do.

True. I play SPs more often than QPs, simply because I like to pick my own numbers, as well.

But it offers no advantage or disadvantage over any other powerball. So if someone was to play extra lines it would be to their disadvantage, just because every lottery ticket it bought at a disadvantage to the State.

It will allow you to structure your plays, using wheels - or not allowing PBs to repeat if you want, etc, but offers no real statistical advanatge, which is why I usually SP... [ More ]

Even if RB28 came up, not playing it would still have been an advantage when you consider the number of times some played it thinking it was over due and it never came up. The real advantage for me in playing PB and other lotteries like it is picking combinations I feel comfortable playing and not what ever comes up on the terminal. That's probably the reason I never buy raffle tickets.

So, the likelihood of making 270 Draws with zero appearances of RB28 is 48:50000

Sometimes dealing with what is actually happening is more productive than using what is likely to happen. By playing PB as it it was a 5/59+1/38 instead of a 5/59+1/39 a player once it was obvious RB28 might be out for a while, could have improved his odds of winning a jackpot from 1:195,249,054 to 1:190,242,688. Not much, but every little bit helps.

February 9, 2008 was the last time RB28 was drawn and if you go back 400 drawings, RB28 and RB35 were each drawn only one time. When we consider anyone playing or getting QPs with those to bonus numbers in the last 4 years only had two chances of winning the jackpot, it just shows how difficult it is to win a jackpot.

Someone in another thread mentioned not long ago that RB28 hadn't appeared in 270 Draws, so I wrote a little simulation to see how often you could expect to go that long without a hit. I know the number of draws sans RB28 is now greater than 270, but these results should be close enough.

Also, people have different definitions of 'close': most define it as a close number, I define it as: if I pick a number that has not hit in 50 games, but the one that hit last hit 45 games ago, that, to me, is 'close'.

'Baseball' comes from horse racing, taking three horses for a Trifecta and playing those three numbers (horses) every which way.

It can also apply to other games, such as Lottery.

I know the object here is to win money, but the time and pattern knowledge so many members has is really amazing.

I've never like math, but you guys make numbers seem compelling..

I understand your logic - it's the same as mine - but we both know there is no way most people would baseball these numbers.

(for those that don't know, 'baseball' means playing every number every which way possible)

For 7/20, I was sure 4 or 42 would hit - but I did not know which one - turns out they both hit, which really is not a huge surprise. I had #4 in one game, #42 in another. I only play two games a draw. I used to play ten per draw, I win just as much with two games, believe it... [ More ]

I usually play only about 5 - 6 games all with RB 28. I don't actually mix em all up into every possible combination that would be thousands of games to play...lol. I just mix em up and make sure I have each of the 20 numbers listed at least once within the 5 games. However if all 5 numbers are within the 20 WB's I selected, my odds of winning a 2nd prize($1,000,000.00 since I play with powerplay) are greatly reduced since it's much easier to to win a 2nd prize choosing 5 winning numbers from a... July 20, 2011 Results

1, 4, 38, 40, 42. PB : 17 Powerplay = x5

I got to the store too late and didn't get a chance to play tonight , but I could of had a 4th prize worth $400.00 ( I always play with powerplay option and the powerplay was x4 ) as 4 out of the 5 White Balls in this set came up ( 1 , 4, 38, 42) The only one missing for the WB's was 40 of course the RB 28

I think 28 will finally hit come this Saturday ( July 23rd)

WB has not much bearing on the RB - or does it?

Overall, I don't think so, but you have your rarities - check out WB 35 and RB 35.

PS - I have been predicting WB 26 or 28 for the last 7 games, I knew one of them would hit, it just took 3 games longer than usual.
