I don't play scratchers very often, and when I do, I lose, and I think what a waste.

I think scratchers are so popular because of the instant gratification. I'm not so in to that. I actually like the anticipation of the draw games.

Unless you hit a mimimum $5K prize or higher right when you start scratching id say yeah they are a waste of money. in fact all lottery games are. there are much better ways to make a profit gambling , but part of the appeal is the instant satisfaction and not knowing what the prize is.

jgilm, that's the highest I've seen on the bonus area..usually that's a bad ticket giving only $10 in the

bonus area. I did find one for $50 but still not life changing and I got a $100 winner on the Whole Lotta

$100's last night but, generally, they aren't as good as they used to be.

Instants are DEAD in PA. I hit $100 on Pure Gold bonus a few weeks back and after that nada, nil, zilch, NOTHING.

I've had much more luck on the $2 and 3's than the big tickets. Money Comb was my biggest win ever, $1000 (also hit it for 100 twice).

That said, I know I'm still a loser on scratch offs. They suck

I'd buy them for the thrills if I ever got thrilled. I think my biggest win was around $27. Singularly unthrilling.

Every time I buy one and scratch off a loser, I say to myself, what a waste! I've gotta quit buying these! I could have had an extra Powerball instead.

Weird, cuz I can crumple and toss 2 or 3 Powerballs or Megamillions into the recycle basket every draw and I don't have that reaction. With the draw games, I'm just hoping nobody won and the jackpot rolls for the next drawing.

i kind of agree, they are a quick fix for the junkies who likes the thrills. as for the profits, it would be hard pressed if anyone made any significant money on them unless they luckily hit the jackpot. i can say as a scratcher for many years i have not even won a $1000 winner, pretty sad. even when i occasionally hit $100 it still requires $20 or more for a small % return. but it is thrilling for instant results.
