It might be that a disability isn't as newsworthy as a rags to riches, bad times turned good story. How

many times have we read about an unemployed person running out of benefits, a single mom with her last

dollar or a couple about to lose their home winning the lottery? Plenty.

I would venture to guess that many disabled people have won the lotto. I'd also guess that unless the disability was noticable by just looking, some decided not to disclose their disability. I would imagine that the flood gates would open with people looking for handouts trying to use your disability against you.

I can't quite understand how the question was offensive. It would be a very inspirational story to hear about someone that is truely disabled winning a lot of $$$ so they could live life to their fullest despite their misfortune.

It seems like there was a guy that won some $$ a while back that was on food stamps? I don't know why but i want to think i've read about stories with people on disability winning large sums of money. Or maybe it's their parents that are disabled? I think i rea... [ More ]

I've been young, a factory worker, a veteran, a minority, unemployed and now I'm old and retired and I have yet to win a lottery jackpot but I've read about others with those classifications winning. With my knees about gone I may also be classified as disabled before it's all over.

Yikes, after I saw the above, I called RoRo, a disabled friend of mine, to get his take...

He hasn't won anything too big, nor has he heard of anyone doing so.

And just on a side, I asked him if he was offended by the question and he said f_ck no ....

I'm curious, so far I have yet to know of any disabled people winning massive jackpots. I think a blind man won a Canadian lottery one time but that's the only one I know of.
