for those worrying about a photo taken, tell them you are of a faith that denies photos, some states wont force the person then.

I dont care who see's my picture, I'm dressing like Phylis Diller and messing with the whole media gammut anyways :)

I am 100% for sharing with the public the winners name, too many ways for the Lotteries to say someone won and then pocket the actual winnings. Which really peeves me that each year soo much winnings goes' unclaimed yet they refuse to give it back... [ More ]

That's why if I won, even claiming as a trust, I would set my phone to only allow numbers that I have in my address book. That way it doesn't matter if people get my number because they'll just get a busy signal.

It's what I'd suggest everyone do if they won big. I'd of course also make sure I had random important numbers on my list so that I wouldnt miss them (such as bank numbers, for fraud detection type stuff.

There are a number of prize levels in the National Lotto, but usually it s the jackpot winners that get the fame. Since December of 1994 National Lottery winners have a right to their anonymity when a ticket holder was hounded by the media against her wishes.

my brother won a million dollars 20 years ago and they made him take his picture and gave out his name and it was awful for him

he had to change is phone # 4 times but they would still get it and called him all hours of the day and night

i agree with you the reason why they killed Buford Pusser he was to honest and that made him dangerous But I think its ok to release the person name ,but i feel that they should not be force to have a picture took

The UK and NSW Lotteries are the most reputable lotteries in the world. Both lotteries give winners the option of remaining anonymous, and the vast majority choose to do so. It is not about covering anything up, it is about not putting winners in a difficult position.

These lotteries have many checks and balances to ensure all is above board. With to UK media, especially to ruthless tabloids, the lottery could not get away with anything.

Without transparency the whole thing hinges on trust.

If they don't have to tell you who won, they can pretty much let anybody they want win and you wouldn't know the difference.

This is what I like about Australian state lotteries, winners can remain anonymous. I think it is madness for US lotteries to require winners to go public, in many cases it has negative consequences for the winners.
