Yeah, I went to just about every ghost town site in AZ.

The problem is that with 99% of em there's nothing much to see there but foundations. Back in those days when a town died, people would dismantle everything and take the lumber to build new houses somewhere else. The ones that did survive intact, most of em were destroyed by vandals and arsonists.

been to many of these towns,specially the nevada and so cali.ones did't know of two guns,but just the names of these towns make me want to see them. some in NV. are so remote the closest you can get is,like 10 mi from the h/way.

I always wanted to buy this place. I have been out there many times and explored every part of it, even walked down the canyon for quite a ways (it's loaded with diamondbacks and scorpions). The cave there that the Apaches hid in from the Navajos after they stole their horses goes in for seven miles I was told and the entrance is in the canyon. I didn't walk far enough to reach it though.

Ha, none taken.

It would definitely be the last of my choices of Texas, NYC and California and it would be more around San Jose than SF. The main reason I'd pick SF is for it's tech-connectedness, what with Apple and Google both being headquartered there. Also aside from those people it looks nice there with some good scenery, but really I haven't given SF much thought as to whether I would ever move there. I would disagree, particularly if we're talking about jackpot winners. While it may be good for retirees who don't have to lose money from pension, 401k payments, SS, etc., jackpot winners don't need to worry about that.

Having the millions you would have from a jackpot win is tons more than the average retiree would have so there isn't that much to worry in terms of taxes. Not only that, but if you're not investing then there's no taxes at all as you wouldn't really have any income (just tha... [ More ]

For me it would be summers in the Pacific Nowth West...i.e. Seattle, Oregon, winters in South Beach I would even go back to Alaska(summer), we were station in Anchorage and we loved it there.

I was wondering if a younger than 55 year old lottery winner would be considered a retiree. The zero state tax was on SS earnings and some of the states had limits on pension exemptions.

If they ask me where I'm planning on retiring to after winning a huge jackpot, my reply will be anywhere I want .

back in 83,van broke down in yellowstone and was towed back to cody(as in buffalo bill)a town we stayed in the night before, word gets around quickly in small towns. part to fix van not immed. avail. and had to spend 3 more days there, some of the nicest ppl. i've met in my whole life.motel gave us a discount,every bar we went to ppl. buying us drinks,asking where ya from,they made a hassle turn in to good time.

I've gone and looked at that land in Wyoming.

Make sure you love flat grassland without a tree in sight for a hundred miles or so and not much to see or do anywhere around you.

Even if you go to the two biggest cities, Cheyenne (pop. 55,000) and Casper (pop. 51,000), there ain't much to see or do there either.

Otherwise it's great, almost no libs, low crime and the least taxes in the country.

This wasn't the article I was thinking of but I wonder about some of these that Yahoo posts.

A few days ago they had the 10 best places for retirees to live and one of the criteria was crime rates. One of the best places, D.C.

I don't think so.

In another one of these article North Dakota was rated as the best place for jobs, because of the oil industry.....but some of the commnet sposted were the jobs didn't pay so great.

jersey did't until recently,look out, when they passed the law it must have been in the middle ofthe night and there was no notice of it,i know cali. has some of the same problems as jersey so if it comes up there i hope they have to put it up to I R, vote NO. we don't have I R.

California doesn't charge state and local income taxes for lottery prize. You only need to pay Fed tax. So, CA is one of the best state to win a lottery.
