Welcome to the LP martinfan763. With there being so many dishonest clerks out there it's best to scan your ticket yourself, however I do both I use the self scanner then I have the clerk scan the ticket as well, just make sure you sign your ticket before you hand it over to the clerk to check.

I will use them occasionally to double-check a ticket. They are nice to have, especially in light of the expos on Lottery Clerk fraud they keep showing on Dateline NBC.

But I myself would never run into that situation they pose in the sting operations. I always know what the value of my ticket is before cashing it in. And the calottery.com replay entry is a good double check in addition to your own. I also don't play crossword/bingo type games because they take too long to determine if you ar... [ More ]

Can't believe the guy from NY sent out the warning. Also said that California basically forced the clerk into a tempting situation to keep the money..DUH!!. It would be tempting for anyone, but it isn't their money and their job is to cash it. The NY guy(he was some head of lottery or something), seemed very shady. If I spent my money on a ticket and was unsure if I won, I would hope I could trust the clerk to do the right thing.

I find the ticket checkers very useful...But unfortunely here in Illinois we can't check scratch offs on them just on line tickets. So some scratch offs such as the bingo's crossword, scrabble I double and triple check them.. Because we also don't have the three letter code on our tickets either here. Then I will take them to work and have them checked by a clerk there...

I find them useful. I like to double-check sometimes, so they come in handy.

And I saw the Dateline show too. I was surprised at how dishonest some clerks could be. (Kudos to the honest ones.)

I would not be able to live w/myself if I lied stole someone's winning ticket.

Yes but they are pretty slow at times or not working at all. If I am not sure that I got a winning ticket or not, I just enter the ticket code to California Lottery Replay website. If the ticket is a not a winner, the ticket will be accepted. If the ticket is a winner, it will be rejected and it will give you an error message that said the ticket is probably a winner.

I think so. Here is PA they took all cheat codes off the tickets. When I am playing Bingos and Crosswords it is nice to confirm my loss. Also I have missed a symbol once cause it looked like another symbol. I had it in my trash pile and also self check them on a scanner before truly throwing them away. My eyes get tired at times also and have missed actual #'s in games. I like them and think they should help cut down on ticket fraud. Dateline NBC did a thing about handing tickets to clerks and p... [ More ]
