LOL, there are very few things I enjoy more than being cut off from human to human interaction.

The great think about being a freelancer and working from home is that i dont really have coworkers so to speak. i have a good friend (since high school) who also works for the company and we talk all day long through IM though LOL.

I would simply give my 2 or 3 week notice (have to keep money coming in while waiting for THE money). Then, hubby and i would high tail it out of town with the animals!

That's a reason NY is somewhere I really want to live some day. You may have to deal with how those people act, but I'd love to be able to walk out of my home (apartment/condo) and be able to instantly be near so many different people. I couldn't imagine trying to live off the grid away from other homes, I think I'd go insane. I can't stand being cooped up in the house for a weekend (even with 1-2 roommates).

How to keep it a secret? Thats easy. Keep your mouth shut. People quit their jobs all the time. What you could do is, just start complaining to your co-workers about how badly the boss is treating you and how your getting tired of it. Play it up, then one day just go off and tell them to take this job and shove it. Problem solved. Of course that will only work if the boss really is treating you badly. Or you could just tell them you got layed off, or you found a better job.

I find this thread interesting because everyone says they would move and don't care what people think.

I've lived here for over 10 years now. I have tons of friends and have no desire to move anywhere else. The schools are great and the town is amazing.

Yea I imagine that's where most people's plans are.

I just want to keep as low a profile as possible while still being able to enjoy the winnings, and so that one works out best. Of course given the amount the jackpot is now, I would fly out to NYC a few days after getting the money in the bank to get a condo. I'd still have to stay at the current residence until the end of the year, but once the year is up I'd be out of here ASAP, and I'd likely care a little less about keeping everything hu... [ More ]

that reminded me of a drink they had back in the 70s called a sloe comfortable screw i think the ingredients were oj vodka,sloe gin southern comfort. i never drank one,but it was fun to hear a honey order one from the bartender,now if there had been more honeys workin behind the bar,who knows it may have become my fav.

Like others have said, just tell the boss and co-workers that you're needing a new challenge. Maybe tell them you're going to another state to open a new business or something. If they press to know what business, tell them you're still researching opportunities.

Don't worry about the people at work. You will be forgotten five minutes after you leave the building.

Worry about your neighbors. Once they find out you have money (and they will find out), well, let us just say you will be moving to a new city and a new state. If you try to stay in the same house/apartment/condo/bridge overpass you will be hounded to death and even threatened until you pay off .

1) Quit work right after winning and deal with your ex-coworkers and their suspicions that you won the lottery.

2) Keep working for a few months and then quit, keeping down the suspicion.

3) Keep working but slack off a bit to where it's not completely noticeable to any coworkers but IS noticeable to your boss. If you get fired you don't have to worry about explaining why you left.
