Plus we stopped and toured Loretta Lynn's childhood home in Butchers Holler and a few Civil War historical sites along the way.

I still have tickets in the jackpot drawing, as I purchased a few draws worth on Sunday.

Once those run out, I probably won't keep playing. The smaller prize payoff just isn't as good as some of the other drawings.

My situation wasn't as bad as yours but had the numbers in my two match3 been on the same line, I would have matched 5 for $1500. At least with three jackpot games PB, MM and OCL in state, we don't have to wait four months for OCL jackpot to reach $10M+ again before having a game worth playing.

Yes, the payouts are way too small. I hit on a couple 3 out of 6 and 4 out of 6. Thing that bothers me, I think, is the fact that I actually had all the numbers, just played on separate lines. I just played the #'s 28, 31, 39, and 44 along with them so that it kept me from having a line with all the numbers that won. But I truly hope that the winner enjoys his/her blessing and makes the best of it.

For the second time in as many drawings the winning number 21 27 41 43 47 49 were numbers I would never play as a group because I never play numbers who sums are greater than 225 or don't have numbers from 3 decades or more. Wednesday's numbers 3 4 5 9 11 13 were numbers I would never play because of the three adjacent numbers and the total range of all six numbers was under 18. In my opinion an unlikely winning combination and yet they were drawn and had the highest payout I've seen in a year. The jackpot continued to roll. I did the 45 line thing again and only got a 3of6 this time. I thought I was on to something but I must have just got lucky.

I checked the 1500 lines that were rejected and there were three 4of6 in them so I had a chance to repeat had the reject parameters been different. I'll probably start limiting my playing to 20 lines again for Wednesday drawing.

Payouts were high for a Monday, I don't know if more tickets were sold or the six winning numbers were more popular than most. I match3 twice with 20 lines on the same ticket so maybe every one was getting an extra hit. If both groups of match3 had been in the same line, the jackpot would be $1M today and I would be worrying about the best way to handle $23M cash. It's those kinds of happenings that got me hooked until someone wins this jackpot.

I think most people play scratchers and Pic 3 more so than jackpot games. The odds are just so high in the big games that people wait until a jackpot is huge. For me though, when I look at the odds on a scratcher, they are usually 1 in a million for the top prize, which might be 20K or maybe 50K. That's a turn off for me right there.

I can play $5 straight on Pick 4 and have a chance at 25K with odds of 10,000 to 1. The only downside to that is you either win or lose, where scratchers do pay... [ More ]

Another week and OCL jackpot continue to roll. Judging from the payout amounts, ticket sales are fairly steady and haven't increased as the jackpot climbs. Could the overall odds of winning any prize when compared with the overall odds of Ohio's other games be keeping sales down? With overall odds of 1:54, OCL is the hardest game to win a $2-$3 prize in spite of being the easiest to win a large jackpot.

Well I thought about it and looked at what happened before when such conditions existed and put those parameters into my RNG and picked 15 lines with all 49 numbers and added a few more for good measure.

I just hope a 4of6 or better came up in the 1299 combinations I considered of the 2926 random combinations my RNG generated and I didn't reject it for the lines I picked.

Just when I was thinking about giving up on OCL for a while and playing PB instead, some one wins it. Now that OCL will be the top jackpot in the country again, I'll stick with it until it's won or a jackpot of MM or PB exceeds $100M again.

Now that 34 was drawn in the last drawing, all 49 numbers have hit at least once in the last 21 drawings. That has only happened 12 times in all 725 drawings of OCL.

Did anyone notice that 48 of the 49 numbers have hit in the last 20 drawings, that's bad news for players who like to mix in a few cold numbers that haven't hit for a while. While all six winning numbers normally have hit in the previous 20 drawings 65% of the time, 48 of 49 numbers hitting in the previous 20 drawings has only happen 64 of the 724 drawings of OCL. The best I've done is 3of6 with 20 lines a few times even though I reduced my number pool to the numbers that hit in the previous 12 drawings which had all six winning numbers 50% of the time. I usually pick my 20 lines from ~200 combinations that were picked from 5000 RNG combinations and always found a 4of6 among the rejects so I need to adjust my reject parameters.

Yes, this probably is the longest an Ohio game has gone without a jackpot winner, Lot'O Play total existence was shorter.

If anyone had a system for winning a 6/49 game, there were plenty of chances to try it even if it was nothing more than buying every possible combinations because the cash value has been $14M+ for a while now.

Answered my own question - it appears that the last winner was 5/1/2010 (jackpot value was $9 million).

At least its not just me who seems to get more winners by playing more tickets!

I've been playing quite a bit each drawing (at least $20) for the past 6 weeks, but didn't see a whole lot of difference in payout by playing more tickets. I did match 4 for $70 once during that time, but otherwise it was just a handful of $2 winners here and there.

I think I am going to do a few easy picks tonight and be done with it.

I'm lucky, I don't have any regular numbers I play, I pick different ones for each drawings. I was playing 20 lines each drawing but if I won anything (usually $2 for a match3) it was in the first ten lines so I've started playing fewer lines. Saturday I played the ten I posted on the prediction board and matched 3 for $2. One of the premium member had two predictions that matched 4 so maybe someone will win it before too long.

I've been buying a lot of tickets recently, experimenting with different number combinations.

On Saturday (8/27), I did a little personal experiement, which resulted in me purchasing more tickets than I ever have before.

Bought the regular numbers I've been picking for weeks, and then also purchased an equivalent number of easy picks. Wanted to see which gave me the best results.

I won back the same amount that I've been averaging for weeks ( $20), despite buying twice as many tickets.... [ More ]

This past Saturday payout was the lowest for a Saturday OCL drawing there has been for a while, this may indicate players are buying even less tickets. Its $2 and $70 payouts for a match3 and match4 are the lowest in the area for a 6/49 game which probably attract less players when PB has a decent jackpot amount.

Just watch the top jackpots in the results section in late October and early November and you'll know. I estimate only 500,000 to a little over a million combinations are sold per drawing so this jackpot could roll for a while yet.

Luckily I've been able to map a route to Ohio through Va and WV and won't have to see one greasy-mullet-headed moron jumping on a trampoline in Kentucky.
