Here are my results from the new 10th Anniversary Diamond Millionaire Scratch Ticket from the SC Education Lottery that I just bought today.

This is a $10.00 ticket with a top prize of $1,000,000.00. There are 30 tickets in each roll for $300.00.

once a year I treat my self and buy a book last year I bought a book of 5.00 tickets which came with 100

tickets and won 475.00 back

the year before I got a book of 10.00 which was 50 tickets and won back 360.00

Here a tip I save all my change until I get 500.00 worth and that is what I buy my tickets with

you be suprise how fast your change can add up

I got back only $135 on one roll, and the other roll I bought I got back $240, so I have had mixed results. I am thinking it might be a good idea on the newer tickets. I will tell you one thing, on the bigger win, I specifically requested a good book, and told them that I did not want junk. Did that have anything to do with it? I don't know because I have only bought two rolls, and on the first I did not specify. These were both $20 games, and had 15 tickets each (all rolls in GA are $300). Kind... [ More ]

i have been buying 5 dollar rolls for the past week 300$ a roll , usualy got back around 150-225 the worst one was 110$ or something close to that some were like 280ish, best outcome i have had so far was 615

Thats pretty bad. Was 1 ticket already purchased that you spet $295? My worse roll was #120ish on a $300 roll and best was right around even. I have never profited even a $1 on a roll. Think the best was around a 90% return.

Bought the new 5$ ticket roll in FL, holiday one, spent 295 got 105 back. Currently workin on the $2 Monopoly...lotta scratchin. I won't buy a roll for awhile, but next time it will e a 20$ one for sure.

As a Tennessean traveilng through GA a few times a year, I can tell you I lose on GA tickets just like TN ones lol.

However, I dont play as much in GA obviously (heck I dont even play much here in TN)

But what I DO LOVE about GA is their top prizes -- they beat the snot out of any state I have been to.

Living in TN and traveling to SC sometimes I get to check out NC, GA, and SC lotteries. I havent seen much of NC but it seems to be on the lower-scale as far as high prizes go. SC as well... [ More ]

Funny you mention that. The store owner next to my work said he use to own a store in GA. Told me he feels it is the best state to play. I wonder if any GA people can confirm.

Back in 2000 when I had worked I got a game called Casino Nights from the oregon lottery from jackpot convienent store in dallas oregon. Bought the whole roll for $250 it was a $5 scratch-it. I only won $330 back so I did not do that again. Now I do not play scratch-its at all.-weshar75

While I have not personally bought a whole book, I have picked out the losers that were discarded... and there were many.

Asked the store owner about it, hes like, they win some, they lose some... apparently, there wasn't any excitement.

Same person or several, I've ran across almost 3 virtual rolls discarded thus far. The store owner posts the winning tickets he can cash in his store - there were none from these three rolls.

I bought a book of $5 tickets in VA. There were 40 tickets in the book. $5 X 40 = $200 it returned right aroung $160... The NC scrathers are terrible unless you're in a populated area - they are distributed winners based on population lottery sales. VA on the other hand has pretty decent cards regardless of location. Just about the best scratching location on the East Coast is GA. Sure would love a book from there.

Ive seen 1 large chain gas station i buy from pull books out of a safe in the floor where they had stacks of cards different denominations and another large chain gas station kept their locked in a drawer box where there was also stacks of different ones.

Its a set price depending on the game. You dont get any discount for buying a book if thats what you are asking.

So if you want a $20 game that has 30 tickets (000-029) then you would pay $600 bux

I know in Illinois, you just pay the value of the ticket times 300 for $1 tix, 150 times $2, etc...

the 7-11 in my area dont sell rolls. I dont know why. also smaller stores / gas stations dont because they are required to have 1 open roll at all times. and they usually only order 1 roll of each game per week. I recommend getting rolls from stores with large turnover.

Agreed. I would goto a mom and pop type store or beer distributor. Easier to get the people who handle the tickets. I have tried at Redners and Wawa and places that have machines with no luck. I think they only have one person who stocks them, so the others have no clue how to even activate or settle a pack to sell you.

No, it's not a dumb question.

Buying what's left over from the shelf is not buying a book. When people say that they are buying a book, what they say is they buy the complete tickets, from ticket number 0 to whatever is supposed to be the last ticket in the book.

I think most retailers would be pretty happy to sell you the whole book. It's good money for them. I don't see any reason why would they not sell it to you as long as you have the money.

Do most retailers typically have whole books available, in addition to what's in the case? Or do you just clean out what's left in the case?

For my birthday in May, I got a roll of Lucky Cherry Slots ($5 game). Got $205 back out of $300. Biggest win was $50. I'd love to get a roll of a $20 game, but just can't come close to affording it right now. Can't even get another $300 roll.

Ok, well I decided that I am going to go in and buy a full book of the $5 IL Wheel of Fortune tickets tomorrow. Wish me luck, I will post my results as soon as I am done scratching off the tickets. I have never bought this many tickets at once but its either this or the stock market and the stock market is not a viable place to put all your money into anymore

I haven't bought a book in three years due to I mainly would only get back 55% of what I spent.

2006: Bought NY $1 book (250 tickets, although I only bought 224 of it and 26 others): Biggest winner was $40; got back about $178, I think.

2007: Bought PA $1 book (300 tickets): Biggest winner was $27, smh; got back prolly $160ish...

2007: Bought NY $2 book (250 tickets): Biggest winner was $50; got back $317 or $318.

Dont buy the $1 or $2 rolls its a waste of money

If you end up with a 'hot' roll you could have numerous thousand dollar winners in 1 roll, or even 5 $500 winners, its possible in Fla but not so sure on other states.

Typically the average return is around 40-60%, however there are hot rolls out there where people have a sizeable return. It is just the luck of the draw.
