Yes, this is what I do - IF I buy any for anyone, then I buy the cheapies - I don't mind them winning $1K - they usually need it anyway.

But the big ones - I give to my spouse so essentially, it's to me . :-D

Just give out five $1.00 scratchers each to everyone on your list! Usually the most those scatchers pay is between $100-$300 dollars and are usually sold with holiday themes for a limited time. So if Grandma does win she will be excited and you don't have to lose sleep about the One that got away! Couple hundred bucks isn't enough to dramatically change anyones life and I be OK with Grandma, cousin, etc.. winning a little extra cash.

I like to give scratch-its for stocking stuffers but not to my niece and nephews because they are not of age yet. So usually it is for my mother, sister and brother in law. It is nice to see them hit a nice prize because usually every christmas they lose on the scratch-its. But it is fun to see if they will win something.-weshar75

Might qualifty as one of the top ten insult gifts of the year , but would hardly be a present.

I'd never give lottery tickets - imagine living with the thought of giving away a cool Million due to a burst of holiday spirit.

I have the same feeling on this. I don't even buy them for other people if they say hey man I'll give ya $20 bux if you pick me up a $20 scratcher . Thats why the only person I buy tix for is the wifey. Its basically like buying them for myself

If you give a scratcher you can't play a just-in-case duplicate for yourself like you could with a MM or PB ticket.

Yep, 20 bucks is better than 20 bucks worth of losing tickets. But then, they scratched them hoping to win and they might have.

Maybe you could give the option, cash or tickets. And then, if they take the cash, it would be cool to call them later and say you won a thousand dollars on 'em, lol.

One Christmas Eve my daughter asked me to get 10 $1 scratch-offs for an extra guest coming to her party and he won $51. As a gag gift I gave 10 opened scratch-offs one year.

I get them for the ladies I play cards with, we all buy 10 dollars worth for each person, and we all end up with 50 dollars worth of scratchers.

A ten dollar limit in not bad for a gift. I never give Jackpots or raffles to anyone.
