I am thinking that they will get rid of that 10x promotion because they expect record runs next year in powerball.-weshar75

Also since Powerball/PowerPlay is using a fixed multiplier I assume they are no longer drawing the multiplier with each draw. Does that mean they got rid of the 10x multiplier promotion?. I always played more during the 10x promotion when they had it.

I found it on the Idaho state lottery site under the news section.

If you Google 2012 Powerball changes you will find an article by someone that analyzed 2012 Powerball vs existing MegaMillions payouts. Other than top tier, MegaMillions wins hands down as the best value per dollar. But MegaMillions will probably soon change also, so it probably will not matter anyway.

Yeah...the payouts don't make a lot of sense. I'm going to keep playing PB, but I won't play the powerplay when it changes.

I looked on the PB website but coundn't find any payout chart for the new payouts. Where did you find it

I guess I'm the only one bothered by the fact that 1WB + 1PB = 1PB = $4. Matching more pays the same amount as matching less seems like your getting ripped off but I guess that's just me.

3WB + 0PB = $14, 1PB = $12. You can see that matching 3WB only pays you $2 more. Matching 3WB is alot harder than matching 1PB and you should be compensated more than the crumbs they are offering with the fixed 2x multiplier.

Yep.... 2 bucks. I read this on the Virginia Lottery website:

Changes to Powerball will mean larger jackpots and better chances of winning. After someone wins, jackpots will start over at $40 million, double the current $20 million. The overall chances of winning any prize will improve to 1 in 31.8 from the current 1 in 35. The chances of winning the jackpot will change to 1 in 175 million from 1 in 195 million. The ticket price will increase to $2.

The odds change slightly, since you're a tiny amount more likely to get the Powerball number, and the price doubles, but most of the prize amounts stay the same. They put the highest Powerplay multiplier on the level that's third-hardest to win, as well as quintupling the base prize at the second level, while while fixing the lowest multiplier on the levels people are most likely to win, other than the very bottom. The biggest gains are at the top (least likely) levels.

From the looks of that jackpot payout table the 5+0 and 5+1 prizes are the only ones worth winning. Too bad their the hardest to win. Oh well I will play any ways. Good luck to all!-weshar75

You can actually participate with 1 quick pick ticket in any lottery game pool. Remember every lottery game is just a big pool of players in itself.

Yea I see what you mean, I ONLY play with the Powerplay, and since it looks like they are taking away the multiplier it is not worth it anymore.
