Only 8% coverage. Wow. That's 2% less than what The NYS Lottery told me in 2010. At that time, they said they were experiencing 10% coverage of the total possible number combinations. (factoring out the duplicate lines like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

2% less coverage can only mean one thing. It means they're selling 2% less lines now than they were in 2010. Since they are selling fewer lines/tickets it's probably for two reasons; players being disatified with the game and the economy.

I was exchanging emails with a NY lottery employee and asked her about how many sweet millions tickets are actually sold. This is some of the info she gave me.

Looks like they're NOT doing the buy $5, get $3 free promotion in March. Instead, they're running a Take 5 buy $10, get $3 free promotion.

I wonder if the lottery is keeping this game running to prove that a $1 million jackpot game doesn't work despite players' insistence that such a game would be popular.

You're right, the game does need to go, or they need to change it to attract more players.

The reason there few jackpot winners is beacuse people just dont like and play the game. Approximately 10% of the possible 3,838,383 six number combinations get sold for each drawing. That means 90% of the possible number of combo's goes unsold. (3,838 combos get sold versus 3,834,545 NOT being sold)

With 1 in 3.8 million odds, even buying two tickets gives you odds of about 1 in 1900, assuming non of the numbers repeated. It's almost twice as unlikely as buing a P3 straight and winning.

Don't ever expect to win a JP, but if you want to play keep the budget small. The odds of a JP win might change significantly if you spend 1000 dollars, but that change simply isn't worth it.

Even with the 3 Free Line promotion, they still cant make it happen. NYS Lottery just doesnt sell enough SM tickets to provide adequate coverage.

But drawing 5 numbers in the 30's sure doesnt help either! Had anybody won, it would had to have been with a QP. Who in their right mind would pick numbers like that

Ya know..if I had your budget, I'd hit several well picked supermarkets all around Suffolk and buy $25 worth in each store. Same for various stores in the town of Wantagh....the location of another top NY retailer.

Yes..The Sherwood Diner. I play at this store all the time playing quick draw....but not Sweet Millions for the reason I stated. So you understand the huge volume this store does. People blow crazy amounts of money in this place. They must have more cash than a bank in that place.

Don't know where you live in NY (I Live about 3 miles from this store).

But...why not go in to stores in Queens (for example)? I go in to some of the scummiest stores in the worst sections of Queens (in addition... [ More ]

BTW:

I heard someone say that Sweet Millions is RNG drawn (vs. ball drawn). Anybody know about that? Makes a big diffrence.
