It's all relative.

When two people from somewhere in the country buy a PB ticket, one matches 5 numbers and the other matches 5 numbers plus the bonus number, it's obvious who was more lucky. And it's just as obvious who is more lucky when one player matches just the bonus number and another player matches nothing.

States would like for players to think it's all luck, that's the reason Massachusetts canceled its Cash WinFall game. High rollers who could afford it knew where to be standing when lady lucky struck and once the word was out, players who depended on luck stopped playing and the game couldn't make money if they didn't play.

This is pretty much how I have looked at things. I consider myself lucky for those same kinds of reasons. After two not so good marriages, the third time was the charm, 12 years and counting. All of my kids are healthy, reasonably intelligent (they are teenagers afterall) and don't get into trouble. I have a job I have enjoyed for the last 20+years. I have enjoyed some good fortune in my life as well as some bad luck. But the good far outweighs the bad.

Most defintely. Some people have the 'gift' of being at the right place at the right time. Some people are 'wired' with a certan way at looking at numbers that puts them in the right 'zone' or 'vibe'. The same with people being 'unlucky'.

Luck is what you make it. I'm lucky to have a great family and loving adult kids. I'm lucky to have a good job in a very nice part of town, and be able to afford to live there. No, I'm not rich, but I'm rich in love and life.

My luck at lottery/drawings/casino goes up and down. I'm lucky I can play, and even luckier when I win. Sometimes no matter what I do, I win, othertimes it's a bit of a dry spell.

After playing different lottery games for about 30 years (18 in Florida) I often think, Maybe I'm just not one of those lucky people.

When I get to an accident scene minutes after it happened and see lots of flashing lights and a paramedic putting a sheet over someone, I think Wow, I'm so lucky I didn't leave 5 minutes earlier.

It's all relative.

Nah, I don't know what the problem is but sometimes I can't post unless I turn off the Rich Text Editor or the Word Compression thing or both. It's workin' right now with the Editor on but it still usually takes a long time to post or PM waiting for it to come up. Probably my dialup service.

As for the jackpot games I think it's all luck. To put it in perspective, with 300 + million people living in this country, 150 million could all buy a different number and no one may win. As far as the smaller games like pick3 and pick4 people can and do win quite often. All it takes is a willingness to study the game.

If someone goes to Las Vegas and wins a blackjack tournament was it luck, or was it the players skill at the game? I believe it does take a certain amount of skill to win the... [ More ]

It's all luck.....I was reluctant to mention the stats on the QP because there's a lot of resentment here about QPs (ut oh) but you're right, right place, right time. Approximately 104 drawings a year for PB and MM, and 12 to 15 jackpots hit, 70 to 80% of those, QPs. Yup, luck.

Not to mention people who hit a jackpot the first time they ever play.

Then how about the prison guard in NY who thought she bought a ticket for one game when it was for the other one and she hit a jackp... [ More ]

the definition of the word Lucky is debatable. I consider myself lucky I wasn't one of the over 50,000 who get killed every year driving their cars on the roads. Or that I'm lucky I haven't gotten cancer, or struck by lightning, murdered, and many other instances.

we hit the JP of life everyday and don't realize it. the only difference is that it doesn't involve dollars.

According to PB, 70% to 80% of the winning tickets are QPs. Are the players throwing darts more lucky than the players who just happened to be in the right place at the right time when the winning ticket was sold?

Will players who match all five numbers and win $1 million in the next PB drawing be considered lucky or will they be unlucky because they missed winning another $155 million by one number

Yep, I've known a few.

One of 'em was a miserable, crabby old sob and another one was a happy go lucky type, so I don't think personality or temperament have anything to do with it.

And if Karma was involved, I don't think that crabby old guy woulda won a dam thing.

I think luck visits everybody periodically but with some people it just comes more often.

I'm one it doesn't visit very often so I make sure to leave the door unlocked when it comes knocking by having a ticket (PB MM) for... [ More ]

I am sure there are a few folks who fall into the multi wins category in each state...Go to our website here in Florida and look under the breaking news section that scrolls across the screen. You will see a woman who has won various prize sizes 47 different times. She just made another claim a few days ago. Personally I don't see luck as a factor. Of course there may be winners who win often than others, but those who do had a plan on how to win, in my opinion. Honestly, relying on luck will make you more of a loser than a winner. The whole theory about a rabbit's foot or lucky charm gives negative results. I truly believe there are some people like Gladstone Gander. I, myself, do NOT have luck. However, I am lucky to be married to someone who does.

And yes, I do ask him to buy the lottery tix once in a while, just to boost our chances.

I believe there are people who have a gift for being more fortunate than others. Hear it all the time through news agencies, LP stories.......etc.

Call it good karma , fate or fortune. Then there are those that are always negative....you can spot them right away. A quick way to find out how a person feels about themselves regarding luck is to simply ask them straight out. Do you play the lottery?, Are you lucky? Do you think you'll ever win?

All I know is If you don't play then you can't win and with odds of one in ten millions or more of winnng a jackpot there aren't going to be many winners.
