That's true, BobP. I just like to be as prepared as possible beforehand, so I know what to expect. However, it does change - and often. Guess it's just like real life, you can only plan so far ahead.

The lottery is government and like the IRS the rules can change as the legislature messes with it. They also do not post all the rules. You would have to request a full copy yearly. Just because you can read the rules does not mean you understand them as the lottery does. The lottery will follow what they believe the rules to be, not what we might argue based on our understanding, beyond that would require courts and lawyers.

BobP

dk we live in a state that needs our money. They will make us jump through so many hoops if anyone of us wins the jackpot. Don't bother reading the rules until you have that winning ticket in hand. Then choose the absolute best lawyer you can find

Hey dk1421, good forum topic!

I would have to agree with RJOh on this one. State lotteries change and adapt their policies and rules often to their advantage; your better off waiting until your hit by the big one first. Then seek out professional counsel.

Even if a website posted such information, it would have to also post a disclaimer to avoid being sued by anyone using that information and not getting a result they expected. What good would such information be with such a disclaimer? You're better off to wait until you really need such information and then seek out a lawyer whose speciality is such matters.

Two questions:

1 - Is there a place here where you can check to see what is and isn't allowed for your state lottery? Like LLC's, blind trusts, or if you must be photographed?

2 - Anyone else notice that your state lottery keeps changing the rules ? In NC, you did not have to be photographed and could have an LLC - those two items were actually in the FAQ section. Now, there is no mention of either, but a new question: Q: If I should win a large top prize, do I have the option of remaining... [ More ]
