Wow its great that you posted this Ranman17! A few years ago I started tinkering with an Excel file for NY P4 and saw this same thing. I also noticed that when a double/double falls it sometimes was an indicator of a trip to follow or vice versa ... I didn't stick with it though, so don't really have any stats to offer here but it might add something to this line of thinking ...

The following is a chart of all the times that a trip fell in the P4 in 2011 and the series number that followed. Maybe someone can use this information to devolp something we can use to capitalize on this info.
