i played the SM tonite in new york...did not want to get too crazy since the good promotion was over (yes i will admit there was a good promotion)

I played five dollars two key numbers 19 and 24 (still havent checked results...dont want to have too much anticipation)

and then i selected QP option...can you believe that in five games i got the

28 3 times

21 2 times and

34 2 times...

i dont really know what it means but i must have thrown the computer terminal off a little...

Just for the record, in Tennessee you can fill in as few or as many numbers as you want and the computer will fill in the rest if you mark Quick Pick.

I did it today on both Powerball and MegaMillions.

On the Powerball playslip I picked 2 numbers and the terminal picked 3 and the Powerball and the ticket came back marked Q4 at the end of the line.

On the MegaMillions I picked 2 on one game and 1 on another and they were marked Q4 and Q5.

The delta you want to talk about is the set of numbers between the brackets.

You are just giving a combination there.

With your delta(s) there, you can have several combinations.

VBA has nothing to do with this. You miss fantasy to work out things and you miss the courage to present them.

The way I'd say it is the delta between 1 4 is 3, which is the arithmetic difference

But that works out the same as saying there are 2 numbers between 1 4 or 6 numbers between 4 11.

If you got the winning ticket, no one's gonna criticize what you called your method.

is it not possible to make it work with delta 0 for sequential numbers?

i am not very quick with addition or subtraction...i find it easier for me to have a 0 delta,

i can only count to eleven the old fashioned way as well.

i watched some videos on youtube teaching java 101, i would post but i am a noob. i suppose the tabbing is similar, for the code in VBA...

it should work. it worked yesterday for me with the mega millions. i selected 9 and 17 and selected qp, then i selected mega ball 36, i have never tried it for for powerball for we never had powerball before...as a follow new yorker you know that is relatively new to our state. surely i am not going to play it at $2 a draw until the jackpot hits 1/2 billion.

unless i see a power number i can use i will play the MM!!

you start with the smallest deltas...Δ0 in take five for example, neighboring pairs

such as 5/6 and 15/16 and 16/17

then Δ1 such as 6/8 and 18/20

then Δ2 such as 9/12 and 11/14

then Δ3 1/5 and 21/25

i think possibly when the computer terminal guesses your quick picks the the starting point is a constant...problem the number 1

if you start with the number 1 and have a delta 0, you then have the pair 1/2

regarding qp, you have a choice. you can ask quick pick at the counter for a full quick pick. or you can fill out a playslip with one ore zero numbers and mark quick pick.

i dont know if you can just ask the patel for a partial quick pick, because he probably will not understand...or was not trained on how to do it.

our complete computer system statewide was just upgraded so we have the latest platforms and the latests software.

i have only seen it one place where you can purchase a ticket online for the nylottery game LOTTO...

it costs 1.50 per game or so.

with the patel down the blok, it only costs .50 cents. per game.

How many deltas are there?

This will vary by game and some deltas map to (a lot) more combinations than others. In this feature , the delta method works a lot like the geometric mean system.

Ohio's PB and MM play slips have two auto pick boxes, Pick5 and Pick1 so players know the amount of numbers being picked automatically. Before PB came to Ohio, I played in Indiana and they had a QP method that would fill in an incomplete play slip.

Ridgey - works the same here in FL on all of the online games available (PowerBall, Lotto, Mega $, Cash 3, Pick 4 etc etc)...

only game it does NOT work for is Lucky Lines , which makes you either pick all 7 #'s or QP all 7#s..

I actually like the ability to do this. I usually play Fantasy 5 using 3 of my own #s and then let the machine pick the remaining 2. That way if my 3 #s come up I have several lines with a decent chance

It should work. The playslip options show you can pick the bonus ball and mark the number selection as QP.

The sticking point is where you try to pick one number in the five number selection area and have the computer fill in the other four.

MUSL says some states have that option depending on the computer platform and which of the three software packages used. Every state with Powerball should have that option.

Mega-Millions says that is not an option.

With Powerball, there are three different computer platforms with multiple versions of the software, so depending on the state lottery system you might be able to pick one number on a playslip box and have the rest QPd.

On the other hand, Mega-Millions says:

the time saving ability of deltas, is meaning less, if you consider the time limitations of the printing of the tickets.

Remember a terminal is set up to read certain blocks and certain amounts of other blocks. If you don't choose enough numbers, it asks for more. If you choose too many it spits it back. This is true of any game. Try it.

thats a very good question...many times jackpots are noted on the website as QP...but how do you really know if it was a true quick pick or a partial quick pick...

if the distinction is made in tennesse for QP1, QP2 etc...then it should be standardized across all states. Otherwise it has the potential to be misleading...many people are not even aware they can mark one number and press QP.

I live in Belgium and for a year now, I can play online all lottery games up to Euromillions, which is international.

Our lottery offers for Lotto and Euromillions full systems. We just make more crosses on the special form.

We also have a ten number wheel for a fixed price. We mark ten crosses!

We also get a key wheel form. We mark for example 2 crosses above for the keynumbers,

well i dont reconstruct... i am not a programmer so i dont know exactly how it works, it is just something i read...i dont even remember where but it makes sense to me on some level...me personally when i wheel in excel i use the deltas to see if i am in range of my spreads...

but the way i see it is not so much 1 plus 2 to get to 3 but

how many space are between 1 and 3...so any delta of 1 represents a couple such as 10 12 or 31 33

Nothing unfair about it as long as you can choose from the same numbers as everyone else.

In my state, the machine can also pick some or all of the numbers.

Another thing, if a board is marked void but has valid boards behind it on the slip, they are shifted by one letter.

playslip:

A: (self pick)

B: (qp)

C: (void)

D: (1 power number)

E: (2 power numbers)

ticket:

A: (6 SP) [blank]

B: (6 QP) QP6

C: (1 SP + 5 QP) QP5

D: (2 SP + 4 QP) QP4

Gary, I haven't tried it, but am also in Texas, I know it won't let you only pick the number 3 for the top five numbers in qp, however I'm curious if it would be possible to have quick pick on top, but only the number 3 instead of quick picking for the mega ball?? not what i think the poster was getting at, but is the only way i can think of that the number 3 would be in the matrix, if it works

it would be interesting to find out why a nationwide game is not standardized across the boards. this could potentially give unfair advantage to some state as opposed to others...

why should texas have a promotion...buy one get three free and not new york...and why should some states have restrictions on the playslips...

I know that's the case because I've done it a few times.

Emailed Mega-millions asking for a definitive answer. But looking on the Tennesee site I noticed a difference in the playslips. Ours say, you can see it on the portion I scanned and posted, Pick 5 or QP.

The Tennesee site says Fill in the numbered box of the numbers you want to play, or mark the applicable Quick Pick (QP) box(es) on your playslip.

The way it reads, leaves me to wonder.

If that was the delta chosen by the machine, all ten combos would have the same spread. If 1 was the key number, all ten tickets lines would be the same. If the machine was choosing random deltas, the results wouldn't be any different than any other RNG unless it's possible to just pick one number.

Many states allow the players to check QP for either the five numbers, the bonus number, or both. If you like the bonus number 32 , mark it on how many lines you choose and all the five number lines are QPs, all with the bonus number 32 . There could be a state that allows players choose a couple of numbers and the others are QP, but I'd like to see the playslip.

Would that be considered a self-pick or a QP by the PB statisticians

How do you reconstruct the original combinations with your delta notation?

The information I read would make the delta notation 1-2-11-4-12. You would reconstruct the original combination by starting out with 1, add 2 to get second number, add 11 to that result to get the third number and repeat until the original combination is reconstructed.

I once converted my Ohio Classic Lotto file to the delta format and the notations looked as varied as the original combinations.

BUSTED......marking one number (in each block) didn't work.

As you see, had to void that block. Be interesting to see if you can do it. Post a ticket.

Do you have a choice of QP's there or is it just asking quick pick at the counter, for a certain amount of cash?

I know that the USA are a bit underdevelopped, and that you pay to get full systems. Looks like stoneage to me

The trick is to get the machine to read the ticket after you mark the QP box and the number 3, right?

What part of this is from experience? Haven't tried marking a number and QP in years (in Texas) but last time the clerk said invalid choice. Some states may allow it. Might try it tonight just to see what happens.

The rest makes no sense.

Generating deltas has no advantage. With the speeds of processors being what they are, you are talking saving a whole .01 millsecond, or maybe a micro... [ More ]

This is interesting, I'll do some backtesting on my husbands quick picks, he gets them from the same place, I am curious to see if I find a pattern.

Ok here is how it goes...partly from experience...partly from what i have read...

Let say we have a combination... 1-3-14-18-30 a five character expression.

This combination can be represented another way...by deltas...some of you may be familiar to the delta system if not...google it.

The delta equivalent is 1 - 10- 3 - 11 a four character expression...

now obviously 4 5. this is important because computing takes time and doing 4 tasks is faster then doing 5 tasks

as a very experienced player i have found numerous tricks unknown to people as well as devious scams buy the big guy...i would like to hear some from other players...

the one i have found which is a shocker is that not all quick picks are created equal...but do you know why??
