If it was the big tens of million dollar pots, I'd have to quit, my wife too, because life would no longer be normal. We'd be fighting to not change , but imagine all those around you, even beyond co-workers, close friends and family - YOU are now a living breathing ATM, and I dont mean that as harshly as it seems. You've got the right idea NoShame. A four day work week is nice but a three day is sweet. I've had both schedules. The three day paid 24 hrs straight time with up to 27 hrs overtime. Sure do miss those days.

My new job is rough as I do have to get up around 4:30am (least that's when I end up waking up anyway) on certain days to do laundry shift. I wouldn't quit my job per se but I would definitly ask for my schedule to be cut down to only 3-4 days a week or do laundry night shifts. I wouldn't want to do the standard shift anymore.

rdgrnr (Ridge) - I think you have hit upon what most miss. Living with yourself is non-optional... and you can 'turn a blind eye' or be 'unaware' all you like but bottom line you are all you really got.

A lot of people play the jackpot games so if they win they can quit working. But if you open your own business you may be working more than you do now. You can't stay home and do nothing if you own the company.

If I won I would wait till I got the first couple of checks before I quit. Wouldn't want there to be a mistake and have to beg to get my job back.

But the best part would be, I would have more time to play the pick 3.

Since the two states that I occasionaly play in, won't allow you to claim as a blind trust, I would be forced to quit my job. My work keeps me in the public eye.

I don't know. My family doesn't support my hobby either. I mainly play the pick 4 and from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed, I'm crunching numbers all day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to be exact.

Pick 4 is much easier since there are only 10,000 combinations but I really don't know.

Why should I take up so much time trying to come up with the right ones?

Because it's worth it in the end. All of your hard work paid off.

I would gladly walk into work with a big ole boom box blastin Johnny Paychecks most notorious song, maybe even doing a little jig with a big ole smile on my face, wearing a lotto winner hat. I discarded my vote because it depends on the amount of the prize after taxes. In order for me to quit my job it would have to be at least 2 million after taxes. I like that ING commercial where two guys are talking about what is your number . In other words what is your number that you need to retire.
