It is true, at least for the big multi-state games. I've heard that single-state games like pick 3 or 5 can be cancelled in some states, but others don't allow it.

I've never understood it but when there are only 5 numbers to pick, some players are so sure they can get all five that they often play them multiple times.

It's possible someone will play the same 5 numbers 46 times with all the bonus numbers and win the jackpot plus 45 5+0 prizes. Nobody has ever done it, but I'll bet there are more players doing that than we think.

A few years ago a guy bought 20 Buckeye5 tickets with the same five numbers and won but the state had a liability cap of... [ More ]

It was 2 Vietnam Vets that brought 7 tickets playing family birthdates of family members. Good thing they chose the Powerplay option. They intend to help out members of their family. Nice Score

I was close, it was the same players that bought all seven tickets according to WV website but there were two of them and they showed up today to collect their $14M prize.

Nothing is posted on the WV lottery website yet but it does appear to be an interesting website.

If you click on Game's Powerball, Winners it does tell you past winners, location, and amount.

Also, for Powerball there is a feature for hot and copld numbers.

I have seen that happen a few times in the pick 5 game called Mass Cash here in MA. I also tried it but had to give up. It can be a very expensive exercise but I did it because I prefer online games to scratch tickets. Cant wait to get the official explanation.

Honestly I am hoping it was the mistake prints of a store clerk that they were forced to pay now they don't need that job. That would be a great story.

It could have been one person buying seven tickets trying to hit the winning PB number but covered his bets with Power Play just in case he didn't pick the right PB#.

I am leaning towards a clerk error.....hitting the wrong keys for advanced draws and made multiples for this draw instead.... I have had a clerk here in FL tell me they can't undo the ticket once it is done.....Don't know if that's true or not.

There has been cases where an individual will play a set of numbers on a hunch and will buy multiple tickets with the same numbers for a particular drawing and have WON! I have a feeling that this is the case in West Virginia. One way to tell if all of the5/6 winners came from the same retailer. If that is the case the what a way to score and congrats to the person/s who brought those tickets. Just think if they would have brought 50 tickets with powerplay and won 100 million. how does 7 people from west virginia match all 5 numbers with the powerplay option for the 2/29 drawing. never seen something like this, unless they are all bought by 1 guy who really liked those numbers. there was 4 other tickets matching all 5 numbers without powerplay and they were bought in CO, IA, IL, TX.CO, I CO, IA, IL, TX
