I played roulette a few times when I was a dealer. My game was the 6+reserve/42 lotto in Belgium, that could be played for 50 eurocents, but by two combinations minimum.

They made a 6+reserve/45 of it, and ask now 1 euro for a combination. So, I dropped out. They tried to make it more attractive by introducting full key wheel systems, but that doesn't change the odds of the game itself. They even introduced a ten number wheel for 5 or 10 euro, I believe. That is correct.

There are 37 cases in the European wheel, but the sum goes from 0 to 36.

37 is a prime number and 36 can be divided by many numbers,1-2-3-4-6-9-12-18-36.

666 can be divided by 1-2-3-6-9-18-37-74-111-222-333-666.

There are pick 5 lottery games with 37 numbers. I consider the roulette to be a one ball lottery, with a 36/37 payout.

It has defined betting limits and fixed payouts (no splitting).

The triangle de Pascal kept me busy for a while.

I think SergeM might be pointing out that's it's the total of all the numbers on a roulette wheel. Some attribute the game to have been developed by Blaise Pasacl, French philosopher, writer, and mathemetician.

From Wikipedia:

The first form of roulette was devised in 18th century France. Blaise Pascal introduced a primitive form of roulette in the 17th century in his search for a perpetual motion machine.
