How does the bank know it's a genuine lottery check and not a forgery? The waiting period sounds reasonable given the amount of money involved.

I was watching the lottery changed my life and heard a couple of winners say for ex: they cashed the check on Thursday and bought a car on Friday.one guy even went to a car dealer and purchased a car with just a copy of the ticket,because the funds hadn't hit his account yet. I don't know of any dealerships that give you on a car on promise to pay once your check clears.

I would think with the Lottery, such a check would be good the minute the check was deposited. What with the internet and all, banks today can access accounts instantly. There is no reason to hold a check drawn on a state's lotto account or such similiar bonifide account. If your bank insists on a 5 to 7 day waiting period, you need to consider using another bank.

Now a check drawn on a personal account is a horse of a different color by another father.

many variables exist for this question to be answered correctly.

Contingent on:

1: Federal regulations for amounts exceeding 5,000$

2: Current stability of the holders account.

3: Credit Unions run different guidelines for deposit and clearing. Check with them first on how long.

4: Check screening.

If someone is getting a million dollar check that was personally made out to them and have it clear within one day...they are in for a rude awakening by the govt. Unless they have 5

A former coworker won a million dollar Mega Money jackpot down here..He went to collect. They offered him a choice of check in hand, cash or by direct deposit. He chose direct deposit,then had to go across the street to get his I.D and checking acct verified and sworn to by a notary, then came back into Hdqrs and the money was in his account before close of business that day... It could take 7 to 10 business days depending on what bank you deposit it into.

If you deposit the check in the bank it's drawn on might clear the same day.

Anything above 500 euros is paid by a lottery central, not by the retailer in Belgium. The lottery central is making copies of your ticket, your id and fills in a few documents. The money is sent immediately to your bank account, that means within a second you dispose of the money on the account. (I cashed in 1660 euro for a 5/6 with 4/6 and 3/6 with a 4 euro ticket.)

I guess it depends on the amount of the checkl, I know when DH won $2600 on the Texas lotto the check was drawn on Bank of America so the Lady from the Lottery Commission told my hubby to take it there too cash it(just so happens that there is one close to the lottery commission) they did with no problems also there were other people in there cashing checks one lady won $10,000 on a scratch off and another lady won $5,000 on the pick 4.
