Lottoreport says 78,423,325 tickets were sold. For that many we should expect almost exactly 20 5+0 winners, so actual result of 68 is 3.4 times as many as expected.

If QP's account for 70% of tickets we should expect there would have been 14 winners from QP's and 6 from self picks. Since the QP's are random we can figure that the extra 54 winners were all self picks, so the birthday numbers resulted in 9 times as many winners as expected for a random distribution. I strongly suspect that one or two guys messed with a lot of number sets with different mega numbers.

EDIT: Oops, scratch that. I checked the CA website and there are indeed 21 different winners.

Very rough estimate each get $1.8M after taxes. Of course each state has different taxing so.. it be less for some.

I am on a winning streak. Won $12 in powerballl and then won $40 in MM. I had 11 14 29 39 56 30 and the multiplier. So the # 30 won for me both times. I picked my own numbers both times.

This draw was a close one for me. I didnt match much, (3+0), but the numbers, ugh, the numbers. I play birthday anniersary numbers on two seperate tickets.

The ticket I won on had these numbers 2-4-6-12-14 MB-31.

I always felt that ticket never had a big chance, due to being all even and so low, but that draw shows sometimes those birthday numbers can... [ More ]

The reason so many people hit the 5 + 0 prize

is so many people play birthdays and anniversaries.

All of the 5 white balls were low so that bodes well

for those players. It is rare to see all the white balls

less than 31 or for that matter less than 20 is even crazier.

I hope someone from LP hits it on Friday. WE deserve it it WE
