The projected jackpot is based on the cash value estimate and it looks like they are estimating a new record sales of around $250 million. The projection was $237 million on December 31, 2010 but ticket sales pushed the jackpot to $242 million. The first projection for the January 4, 2011 jackpot was $290 million, sales increased it to $350 million. and the record sales of $230 million gave a final jackpot at $380 million.

My math might be off some but to get to $600 million i think it would take about $500 million in sales to get there. For Tuedays drawing there was almost $191 million in sales. The record for sales is $230 million for the Jan 3 2011 drawing. A new record in sales will take place for this drawing im sure. Hard to tell how much will be spent on this drawing.

What I think markp1950 meant was physically to Illinois to get the tickets, or from any other non MM state to a MM state.

You can only play the Illinois lottery online if you live in Illinois. I tried to sign up and could not as my address could be verified.

If you want to save on taxes you'd better go rent a truck and move to Illinois before the drawing. Then be prepared to prove it. If you're resident of Wisconsin you're going to owe income tax to Wisconsin no matter where you bought the ticket. Buying in another state will just give you the chance to file two state tax returns.

It went from $363 million to $500 million (one of the machines in a store I went to today already said it was $500 million). By Friday it could very well reach $ 600-650 million.

It will no longer be lottery fever . It will be lottery flu or lottery pnemonia.

they raised it 20 million last draw..it will be no problem to raise it 50 million,

especially with the norm being that people are now buying 200 plus tickets...

and MUSL can always borrow some money from powerball...its not like they are gonna need it THIS week

If your state doesn't carry MM you can buy them from Illinois Lottery.

I might buy them from them because taxes on the big jackpot would be $6,000,000 lower.

In Wisconsin I would get $204,000,000 in Illinois I would get $210,000,000.

Win then keep on going. On to Wyoming where state taxes would be $0.

There's going to be an enormous amount of publicity and people are going to get completely irrational. I'd guess that the 476 figure is very conservative, and we'll easily reach 500 before it's all said and done.
