I have tried 2 rolls now. Highlights of each one:

Lucky Cherry Slots $5 game (got it last May)

- returned $205

- 14 winners

- highest win was $50

- longest streak of losing tickets: 11

My grade for the roll: B

Hot Ticket $5 game (got it this May)

- returned $150

- 13 winners

- highest win was $40 (happened twice)

- no $20 wins at all

- longest streak of losing tickets: also 11

My grade for the roll: C

I sell the lottery in my store in GA and we have several customers who buy books. All books come in $300 totals. So $1 tix there are 300 tix, $10 tix there are 30 etc. etc. etc. The new $20 ticket that comes out this tuesday is moving to $600 rolls, or 30 tickets. In my experience from selling the tickets and talking to the guys who buy the books, they pretty much lose on 90% of the books. The retailers get a list of winners. Ask and try to look at it if you can. The last one i looked at had two sheets of winners. Surprised me that people actually win some nice prizes. Seems like they print one top prize until someone hits it, then they print another.

In NY one year at Christmas,NYL had six two dollar tickets wrapped in foil packs for ten dollars a pack 500.00 a roll .I bought a roll ,...usually a winner every fourth pack ,........one time ten packs before a hit.When all said and done I made a hundred and twenty five dollars.After all that scratching and unwrapping,I waited for summer to watch the grass grow.lol If I do this again it will be twenty dollar tickets,I've had some really nice hits with those tickets.

As a follow up to my post , I asked a few store retailers if anyone hit the $500. Or $1000 or higher prize in that particular game I was buying ( Million Dollar Scratch) ,so far NO WINNERS ON LI , NY ) people in my area gave up, bc all you get is random $ 5, $10, $20. I'm guessing the lottery is waiting to release the prizes . All,I know it was not in my rolls I purchased

Wow. I thought PA was bad. Our $5 rolls are $300 and the usual payout is 150-160. I have never broken even a roll before. I still buy them occasionally, but I never seem to get the roll with the $500+ winner

I live in Ny and I also bought a few rolls ($5.) They cost $500.00 each here. I never won back more than $150/$160 . I had better luck buying random tickets from different rolls.

Does every store allow it?

I know the Jacksons stores here require you to buy in order the next ticket(s) poking out of the dispenser if you just want a few. They used to pull from the tail end of the roll if the customer wanted them to, but no more. I've never tried to buy a whole roll, but I suppose they might let you skip what's in the dispenser if you were investing that much.

Anyone want to share their experience of buying whole rolls in Georgia or preferences on which tickets to buy whole rolls? The main tickets I buy whole rolls of are the $20 tickets that have second chance drawings; the best I have did so far is $695 on Maximum Green, so a profit of $395. And the worst being $110 for a loss of $190.

How is buying rolls of tickets almost like greed No one here is stealing the tickets, they're

purchasing them with their own money and makes financial sense to those who can afford it and are winning.

And as far as trying to hard to win DUH!!! lol

There is nothing similar in buying rolls of scratch offs to buying a ton of MegaMillions and PowerBall.

I tend to agree with you for two reasons. One, buying an entire roll, to me, is very similar to buying a ton of Mega Millions/Power Ball tickets. It just doesn't make financial sense, nor does it increase your overall odds of winning. Two, it's almost like greed and just trying too hard to win the big money. Like you, I've heard many stories of success by going from store to store purchasing different tickets.

I have never bought a whole roll but once I when on a ticket of 20 or more i move to another ticket. I usually watch people in the store buying tickets and if they buy say 5 in a row and look at them in the store and they dont win then I start buying that same ticket.

Manali, the roll has all the tickets. HA! Ok, that was my humor for the day... the real answer is: it depends. Here in Florida, some $20 games have 30 tickets per roll, for a total cost of $600. Other $20 games have 50 tickets per roll, totaling $1,000.... I believe that all the $10 games have 60 tickets= $600 for the entire roll. I can't speak for the $5 games. I see it paid $250. I wouldnt be shocked if you only missed a $50 winner.. Maybe $100.. Most $20 rolls pay about $300 in PA. Mine was $285, so you might have only missed a $25/$30 winner. I wouldnt stress too much about it. I wouldnt be shocked if the store owner bought it though knowing you lost 8 in a row. Id avoid the $10 LFL most $10k prizes are gone and only 1 top prize left and nearly every store here has rolls. They are trying to capitalize with lots of losing tickets being sent out. You should of went with Casino Action or $200 M Spectacular Or a $20 roll

Florida..Ok so I guess losing over half of my money buying the GRT(see previous post)wasn't good enough..I went out and bought a roll tonight as in 03/31/2012 here in Orlando, Florida.....lol..this time I bought a roll of Lucky $100k a year for life...this was a $10 game which had 60 tickets in the roll..#000-059..total cost of this roll $600

The $5 game here in Texas has 75 tickets on a roll. The roll should be unopen and not from the container. The store usually have a few hand full of rolls stocked away and one roll available in the container for individual ticket sale.

Ah, seem like there are more losing rolls than winning. I think it is best to buy individual tickest but at different store for better odds. Recently, I started with a $5 ticket and won $140. It was a slow accumulation of prizes, had to cash in the $5

I bought a roll of Billion Dollar Blockbuster last year ($1,000) and only got back $595

Losing $405 bucks in one sitting was NOT fun. I actually would love to buy whole rolls if I could do so regularly. That was the first roll I had bought in ten years!!! Sometimes you get a HOT roll. Sometimes you get a COLD roll.

In Georgia and SC they are all 300 for a roll no matter what

the per ticket price is. So like 30 $10 tickets in a roll. In Georgia they have $20

tickets but they are only 15 tickets in a roll.( So every roll in Georgia is $300) In NC they also have $20 tickets

but a roll in NC for the 20s is $600. The other rolls in NC are $300. You should ask James1

about the rolls in Florida because I am unsure about them and don't want to misspeak. Oh and

Oh my..ok..well I stepped out and bought a roll on wednesday March 28, 2012 of GRT Gold Rush Triplers from a Sunoco in Ocoee, Florida just west of Orlando in Orange County florida...I paid $600 for the roll and I only won $240..yep so thats a -$360 loss for me..the winners below..James1 or someone did I buy the worst roll in the history of Florida scratch off tickets..I didnt even hit a $100 on ticket..I have bought GRTs in various spots before and have at least hit $100 on a ticket...I feel so

Well I have bought a ton of rolls

and they were all ten dollar tickets

except one. The standard used to be

half your money back. It does vary by the

game though. The books are $300.00 here

in SC. I usually averaged half back for $150.00.

I quit buying books after the last roll i bought

only brought back $100.00. I did get a roll of holiday tickets

about 3 years ago and I got back $1430.00. That was nice.....

i buy $20 packs here in VA every once in a while when i go out on a limb... I have not won anything big but you are pretty much guaranteed to lose no more than half your money on the $20 packs/rolls

There are guarantee prize in each roll. So chances are we don't loose everything only some of the money if the roll does not have enough winning amount. Anyone have experience in buying the entire roll? This refer to $5,$10,$20 games.

If so, how often do you profit and how often do you loose?

I'm thinking of picking up a $5 roll tomorrow. The most I'll loose is $150.
