Priceless indeed...seeing that i dont normally play but when the pot is that huge i throw in 5 dollars......without much thought i was able to score on the powerball as well as 1/5 numbers which was the same number as the power ball. i guess i cut my loses to 2 bucks cos i won $3 back...better than the 100-10k others were spending...

To put some more work in and get my MM tracking system finished. Takes a while using pen and paper! Although the QP's did win me $20.

The wife and I did spend more than normal and after reading some of the responses, I realize I was not the only one that felt like there was really no chance when seeing everyone playing and how much money some were spending on it.

When a frenzy hits all of a sudden everyone is an expert or has a theory to beat the game.

I learned that people are really insane. I mean come on, it was like Black Friday last Friday. The funny thing is, I did not buy one ticket. I did however tell my mum to buy 2 tickets from Brooklyn... both losers.

I learnt that it's pointless making someone else rich. People who spent $50, etc sure know how to make other people richer.

I've learned that when the jackpot gets up near there again and I want to throw $50 bucks at it, I'm going to buy all 46 mega balls. Its a guaranteed win on one ticket and instead of picking all 6 numbers, that win ticket only has to hit 5 numbers.

We haven't heard from the jackpot winners so I'm wondering what the state lotteries will do with all the publicity those winners are sure to get. Kansas, Maryland, and Illinois are probably already getting ready for their big press conferences. Questions like how will you spend the winnings are silly IMO because the players never had that much money to spend in their lives or does it really matter how many tickets they bought when the only ticket that counts is the winning ticket.

Here's another one- we got a phone call from a friend last night wanting to know how much 1 + 1 paid (no Megaplier). We told them to look on the back of a playslip.

Then they said they had already cashed the ticket and got paid $3 but thought 1 + 1 was suppossed to pay more because the jackpot was so high.

i hate scratchoffs...they are so much work to stratch and figure out sometimes...especially the porker poker ones! and the mess!

soon there are going to be chess themed scratchoffs...it will take people like 30 minutes to figure out if they won or not...and sometimes the scanners dont work so well on scratchies...

i felt the same way seeing all the publicity really put it into perspective for me, about how many people are playing this thing and how slim the chance is that im going to be 'that guy' to win. i heard somebody won only buying 1 ticket. so buying 10K tickets is a waste, you cant buy the jackpot that way. look at all the tickets sold just in NY and nobody won there. now imagine only one person was holding every ticket in NY, he would have lost some serious cash thinking he could buy the jackpot.... I think only 1 of the second tier winners in Illinois was an own pick...all the rest were QPs as was the winner from Illinois. I think just keeping in mind that the joy in playing the lottery is oftentimes just the chance to dream, What if... and to not get too fixated on whatever the annuitized/cash value jackpot amount is, since it really doesn't matter UNTIL you have that ticket that matches all 6 drawn numbers.

i learned that i was not prepared to do a strong $25 wheel, without wheel controls...

i also learned that i should have paid more attention to laughs positional thread...

i also learned (for the millionth time) that if you play a power wheel with the #3...then you might want to play an insurance wheel with the straddle numbers

The only thing I learned was not to feed into the hype. Seeing people drop 100-10,000 on tickets really kind of discouraged me I thought No way I had a chance of winning with a 10$ ticket. The lotto hype really has a way of sucking you in but I stayed strong didnt over spend. But seeing the reactions on Twitter of the people that spent their rent / gas money = Priceless.

As one of the threads here stated some of the nonsense about waiting in line behind newby players when the jackpot is up like it was, what did we learn?

I think for one thing, when it gets pumped up and 'everybody' plays it really becomes apparent how clueless some people are about lotto.

Which is the one that's got the big jackpot?
