Fantastic, NOT. So I was at the lottery machine on Wednesday, and selected a Powerball QP. The numbers looked too bunched together to me so I selected a new ticket. That bunched together ticket looked awfully similar to last night's drawing. May never know how close I got. Oh well, there's always next time

Still, every draw on the current Mega Millions run has sold AT LEAST 22 MILLION tickets. Every Powerball draw since its $325 million jackpot in February has sold LESS THAN 20 MILLION tickets. Powerball only rolls faster because of its $2 ticket price.

PB jackpot rolled from $94M to $113M ( +$19M ).

This game is way better than MM. It is only a matter of time for MM to change its game matrix. The PB jackpots are rolling too fast for MM to catch up from a $12M starting Jackpot. The Classic hit in Jan 2010 and May 2010 then didn't hit again until Oct 2011 (50.1 Million) and then again in Dec 2011. I play all my own numbers in the Classic and have been tracking it for some time. Thanks for the advice. I'm not concerned with the frequency of payout, just the payout when I win it

Nightstalker, 7.2 million is a sweet jackpot but have you considered the frequency of payout on the Ohio Lotto. I use to play it myself however when I recently found information revealing it has only paid out

I fully agree Thrifty. There's no other way to win.

I must admit that I had some buyers regret after buying tickets for the record JP. This might sound a little crazy, but I felt like I had less chances to win even though I spent more because of all the people playing. I'd almost feel better winning a smaller JP (ok, any jp) than the record one because I feel like I have a better chance to win.

They are called lottery dabblers

I like to think of it as a lottery chaser. Knowing approx. when a lottery is most likely to be hit is half the battle for me which allows me to concentrate my efforts to several different lotteries and playing only at those specific time periods.

There's really no reason not to just get (5) QP's, or, run $5 worth of your own numbers...either will work fine. I am playing to win a MM or PB jackpot, although I do not mind winning other prizes. I feel that spending $5, $10, or $20 on a jackpot is not a bad deal.

That's exactly what I was thinking, I would have felt better spending $1 on it. I thought about buying 1QP, because I have not seen anybody winning $10k, $250k or the jackpot where I live.

Lottery players think that ny is a gold mine when it comes to winning jackpots, but I do not see the winnings spread out. Long island ny wins most of the jackpots.

The PB folks are probably going to be stealing from their jackpot fund for a while though, because they probably had to dig in to their cash reserves last night to pay all those match 5+0 winners, especially the five $2 million PowerPlay winners, since only ~3 million players purchased the PowerPlay option for last nights draw.

The POWERBALL rolled over from $80M to $94M (+$14M) last night.

The following was stated in the PB website questions and answers page.

The minimum jumps will now be by at least $10 million each draw (up from $5 million in the old game).
