Before the drawing it's a chance, and there are laws against reselling it. Once the drawing is held it's a financial instrument with a fixed value and it's your property, so why wouldn't you be able to sell it?

The better questions are how much would somebody else pay for it, and how much are you willing to pay for some initial anonymity? A large corporation probably wouldn't be bothered by people looking for handouts the way an individual might be, so they might not require a huge payment to... [ More ]

I don't think a bank would do what you're asking simply because that's not what they're in the business for (accepting somebody's lottery winnings). I mean you could try, the worst that would happen is they'd say no, but I just wouldn't count on it.

Not sure, but a lottery ticket is a bearer bond, once signed the person or entity, like a trust, who signed it is the bearer.

The signer is going to be the one paying the taxes on it. I think it would be very doubtful that any bank would cash it in and pay those taxes. Along those lines, it's also very doubtful that the person with the ticket could pay the bank up front beforehand. Same goes for investors.

RL, that's one of the best ideas I've read on how to claim anonymously without all the legal and sometimes illegal mumbo jumbo we read. Even if your name isn't common somebody will tell you they read where someone with your name won the lottery and probably say too bad it wasn't you .

I see no reason to even buy a ticket that could be worth millions of dollars if you're not planning on spending, investing, or doing something with the money. My favorite winner's line is I love my job and I'll keep on working because any of us that works know there are lots of days when we are ill or just don't feel like going to work, but we know we must. That would all change with a multi-million bank account.

Take a trip to a large city in your state, take up an appartment and get a unlisted phone, mail box, utilities

etc.... Then use that address and information when making the claim. Depencing where you live and the

state laws you may not have to do a interview with the press or jusr have a lawyer do it for you. Chances

are in a large enough city there are several people in the area that have the same name and anyone in your

If a bank could invest lets say $50 million on a $100 million dollar ticket, they would make $50 million over 26 years (not including taxes) from the ticket.

The banks and investors buying annuities only pay a small percentage of the actual value if you need cash now and after state and Federal taxes, a cash value jackpot of $75 million is only worth about $43 million. Even if it is legal, I doubt would get more than $20 million.

I'M not sure why a bank would reject the offer unless it was illegal or not cost effective. Banks are in the business to invest money to make money. Welcome to the LP Tracy, you can always do what the lady(pharmacist) in Illinois did a few years back with her disguise idea. The best thing for you to do is seek professional advice from a reputable attorney. You can also contact your local lottery commision office they usually have a list of attorney accountants firm that they refer winners to.

I don't know for sure, but I'm almost positive that any bank would immediately turn you away for asking. I don't think there's anything illegal about it but the bank just really isn't for this type of thing. I'm sure they'll be happy to inform you that they'll waive the membership fee for their special checking/saving account if you put your money in their bank, though.
