When I read poor English, I am looking for the dislike-button.

When I read poor threads with stupid systems that have been rewritten hundred times, I am looking for the boot-button.

Most boards will take you to the first unread post. On those I will usually read most of the posts in any thread which is interesting to me.

On this board I get so tired of looking for where I left off, that after a thread gets to a few pages I tend to give up.

I am a reader,so with that being said I read a lot all day long. I don't post much, but i'm on here reading. I find it interesting and funny at times.

I just hate the drama and members down grading other members.

By that time the topic has a tendency to diverge off topic or converge to a conclusion.

Anything else beyond that is mostly chatter, opinion positioning, or out right loss of interest.

I think very few people read a entire post, I myself read the last page and if I find something interesting

then I might go back and read few pages. I think that there are as many different reasons why people

visit LP as there are topics. I discarded my vote because I could not care less as to what or how much

others are reading and don't understand why anyone would.

if tyheres lots of off topic banter, and maybe insults, ill drop a thread. as long as the weight of interwsting stuff is heavyier than the balogne. its all good.

but if i find a thread weighted down with garbage, then im gone. caN BE 2 PAGES and im over it.

but if im interested in the off topic banter, im good with it. .

depends for me as well

but I'll have to admit some topics could use a fair bit of rehashing and or posts from a few LP regulars like Mcginnin56 and the few nameless others that more often then not post interesting points that are worth reexamining once in a while

'course thats just me

but then Mcginnin is still bit of a hard pill to swallow once in a while

I can't really say how many because many of the off topic replies are not worth reading, but some topics will get back on topic after a couple of pages of off topic replies. You'll probably never get a true consensus nor will the casual reader because a discussion about why or why not they are worth reading has been added to your topic of how many .

Those interested in the entertainment value of replies will keep on reading and/or posting and those just interested in how many will stop after... [ More ]

I Forgot to mention that one very special ingredient Boner, ENTERTAINMENT!

Even the most dry topic can be entertaining, with just a little imagination.

Think of all the books, magazines, talk shows, documentaries, movies, etc...without the entertainment factor, they would have a very small audience.

well if thrifty started the thread, usually 0 replies are needed for me to stop reading.

otherwise there really is no limit on the amount of replies as long as the information contained remains interesting and entertaining and contemporary.

If the thread is HUGEMONGOUS, then i just go from page to page and scan quickly for the avatars of any more enlightened members and read only their posts.

Depends on how interesting the poster makes the topic, the same goes for the replies.

Some threads are not only repeated, rehashed boring topics, but they seem like they are written by your 8th grade Algebra teacher, who was better

suited in putting people to sleep, than actually teaching you anything.

I didn't see a category for 10,0000 replies, so I voted for the maximum allowed of 512.

As a casual reader, how many replies are actually worth reading?

I see topics with thousands of replies.

Come on, I would not spend hours, maybe even days, looking over these.

Keep in mind, we're not talking about those that have a deep interest in the topic.

We're only looking for those that only browse the topics.
