Dunno if any other Idahoans are still hanging around, haven't seen y'all in a while. But just in case, tomorrow (Black Friday) from noon to 3 MST you get a free Powerball ticket with the purchase of a raffle ticket. Good chance to get in on the gigantic Powerball jackpot for free

For a $10 entry fee, I'd rather have a chance at the $25K. Sure I'd love to win a hundred bucks, but not if that means I don't even have a chance at $25K.

Make your mind, do you want better odds of winning something ($100 perhaps if you're lucky) or better odds of winning nothing if you don't win the $25000

I see PowerBall differently than I do a raffle. The odds of winning the PowerBall top prize is sooo long that many of us play for the lower prizes. It's an ongoing game where you need to see a bit of money once in a while to keep going. I see the raffle as something much closer to a scratch off game. Limited time, limited number of tickets available, much better odds.

I'd rather eliminate some of the lower prizes (not all) if that's what it takes to get that $25K prize back.

PB did something like that when they doubled the price of their tickets and didn't double the payout amount of the lower prizes so the second prize could pay $1M and some players stop playing.

I dunno the percentage, I just know they eliminated some of the higher prizes. The lower prizes don't make up for that. Who wants to pay $10 for a chance at $100 bucks? If I was gonna be happy with $100 I'd buy 10 $1 scratch tickets instead. I'd rather eliminate some of the lower prizes (not all) if that's what it takes to get that $25K prize back.

Maybe I'm in the minority, and maybe they got complaints in previous years from people who bought several tickets and won nothing. Maybe they... [ More ]

From your chart, it looks like they are planning on selling 250,000 ticket at $10 each which mean they plan on raising $2,500,000 and paying out $1,300,000 is prizes plus an addition $6,000 in promotional prizes.

Not including the cost of retailers commission and the general cost of running a raffle, they are paying out 52% of sales in prizes. What percent of sales are normally paid out in prizes that make you think there are getting greedy

This starts on Wednesday and I just got an email saying they will give a voucher with each ticket to enter for a $100 drawing each day. That's an extra $6000 over the course of the promotion which does NOT make up for not having a $25K prize.

Anyone else's state lottery getting greedier by the minute

I don't think I like the new prize structure. They used to have at least 1 25K prize - maybe 2 but I can't remember for sure. Now the 2nd highest prize is just $10K. I wonder what prompted them to change this? I think I'll just buy 1 ticket this year, just to be in it.

There are 250K tickets selling for $10 each, which is the same as every year since the raffles started.

$1,000,000 RAFFLE PRIZES AND ODDS:

Prize amount Number of winners Odds 1:

$1,000,000 1 250,000

$10... [ More ]
